moisture in headlamps

i have a 2001 sc2. one of my headlamp assemblies started to get moisture in the bottom of the assemblies on the front lens. saturn replaced it out of warranty. now the other one is doing the same thing. has anyone else had this problem with their cars? my car is like new with only 16.000 miles on it! do the vents in these lights malfunction or something preventing any moisture from drying out? the last time i had the light replaced, the service manager told me to drill holes in the back of the lights! the lights already have air vents in them right? why in the hell would i have to drill holes? it's scary that a service manager would tell me to do something so half assed!

i just checked and i didn't see any vents, the headlight is really designed to be sealed, moisture normally means the seal is weak. you can try taking the headlight off the car, check the seals, dry it out, then remount it. also drilling drain holes in the bottom off the headlight has been a common repair for years when replacing the headlight is not cost effective.

i just checked and i didn't see any vents, the headlight is really designed to be sealed, moisture normally means the seal is weak. you can try taking the headlight off the car, check the seals, dry it out, then remount it. also drilling drain holes in the bottom off the headlight has been a common repair for years when replacing the headlight is not cost effective. these ain't sealed beams & the fact that the bulbs pull out of the back of the housings prove that. do you have the same car? on the front of the light assemblies. you see the small vent holes in the back of the reflectors one in the high beam reflector, & the other in the turn signal bulb reflector both on top. on the back, there is small tubes that come out of the lights. all aerodynamic lights have breather vents in them to vent out pressure when the bulbs get hot. all these lights tend to slightly fog up from time to time, but it usually dries out fast when the breathers work properly, or the seals around the housings are good. the problem here is that for some reason, moisture just does not dry out on the front of the lens. drilling holes will just let in dirt. the other light saturn replaced which was doing this & the new light tends to say dry most of the time with the exception of an occasional fog that drys out fast like it's supposed to.

weather your vehicle has the rubber vent hose or not shy of the vent hose missing or your casing cracked I would check the o-ring or o-rings that seal your headlamp mount shaft. Good luck.
