I was woundering if anyone might be able to give me some advice about this. I have 1992 saturn its has 300,000 miles the motor is getting pretty weak. its a sohc with manual trans.
I guy I know smashed his 1999 saturn with 64,000 miles. this car has sohc with automatic trans. I can buy the engine for $200 and what everelse I need.
I am pretty mechanicly inclinded (though my gramer and spelling are challenged haha)
I read a couple of other posts about saturn engine swaps, and it sounds like a big consern might be putting this new engine on a manual trans. I'm guessing i would have to change intakes, and other sensors. I'm woundering if this will work, will I have to change coils and crank positions sensors. I would be very greatful for some good advice. Thanks
sean

sorry i didn't reply to your PM, i don't have much free time on the weekends -

i don't see any world stopping problems, but the 99 engine will not work with the 92 PCM. you will need to use the 99 PCM, wiring harness, intake manifold, and maybe the exhaust manifold to. you could keep your manual trans or swap in the auto (i am told the PCM for a auto trans will work with a manual, but don't know for a fact). since you will be using the newer PCM, you will also be converting to OBD-2, meaning a rear O2 sensor will need to be added behind the cat, the DLC under the dash will also need swaped(but that would be included in the wiring harness)
