Security Alarm Light Blinking

My 00 SEL alarm light (on instrument dash) is blinking as soon as the key is out of the ignition. Is this normal? The alarm seems to be working properly though.

Yes. A slow blink with the key out means the system is functioning properly & is armed. A rapid blink with the key in means the system does not recognize the key code, the key is not 'programmed', or the system is picking up interference from another 'coded' key.

Slow blinking means the system is working properly AND armed, you said. Did you mean that the slow blinking means the system is either functioning properly OR is armed? 'Cause mine blinks even the system is not armed.
