Engine choice?

Ok guys I need help. I can't figure out what swap to do. I'm going to buy a 4G4D (99% sure a DX). I have changed my mind so many times on which motor to do, from just an A6 ,to a DOHC ZC, to a mini me and back again.
Ok I have $2000 to spend.
And a pretty good mechanic (yes thats you Sparsky).
I'm retired from street racing but I don't like being as slow as dirt.

dohc zc is a good choice. i prefer a sohc vtec to a zc.

zc will get you more power but the Si d16a6 motor has more aftermarket support (so i hear) - depends on if you're going to mod it in the future i guess. I have a d16a6 and i'm going to tell you to get a d16a6 because i have one and i like it :)

imo its a great motor

If your intention isn't to be fast, but have a little more than adequate power, you can just convert from DPFI to MPFI and run your basic I/H/E combo. That should be nice and comfortable as is and still have great gas mileage (not to mention have extra money to spend on other things). The DOHC ZC would be a good choice as well and since it's a direct replacement, there isn't anything special needed to complete the swap (other than converting to MPFI). You can modify the DOHC ZC the same as a D16A6 for the most part. It's just knowing which parts to mix and match between the USDM Si engine and USDM 89 Integra LS engine. Since you are working with a $2000 budget and you aren't exactly planning on racing it around, I'd consider swapping a B18A1 motor. In stock form, that should have more than enough HP/Torque to satisfy your need for more power. And, if you decide to modify later, you can go in so many directions with the LS motor.

ZC or Z6! Go with a Z if you're going to piss around with D series motors. :p
