Hello all
In year 2005, I am starting to bulid my first Formula 1 racing car which had been stocked in my shelf for year ago, the Jordan 191. The jordan 191 was the first F1 car that Michael Schemacher rided on for the first battle of his F1 carrier. Therefore, I am trying to replica a detail version of this Jordan 191.
Here is the progress picture for the V8 engine:
The original plastic part for the funnels had been upgraded by metal funnels. Besides, the exhaust holes on the braking disc were drilled.

More progress pictures would be coming and any comment is welcome
Happy modelling

I recently finished my own Jordan 191, they look awesome when complete.
The holes drilled on the brakes are a great effect, well done!
However in future try to fill and sand the join lines between any two halves that are joined together, for example on the picture above where the two halves of the gearbox join (just behind the shocks and springs).
Looking forward to seeing more!

Hello Captain Mark
Thank you for the comment.
Actually this engine is a test-built which I would use it for check and fit the amended parts. Such parts, like the funnels and brake disc, would be put back to the final one. I will upload more pictures about the engine later on.

Mic,
Where did you get the silver funnels from? Or how did you make them?
Any extra information or pictures would be great, as I always find these difficult, and would appreciate your tips.

Hi Mark
The funnels are after-market items by MuseumCollection.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19083529031_29255_001_1024768-med.jpg
First, I was using a 3mm drill-bit to have all the holes through and then placed back to the engine and continue to drill through the base mount until the funnel could be gone via.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19083529031_29255_017_1024768-med.jpg
Below is the example after modification.

The brake disc
In order to improve the realism of the brake disc, I have decided to use donated parts from FW24 since the brake calipers in this kit is seperated from the disc.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19083529031_29255_007_1024768-med.jpg
The calipers would be widen so as to match with the Jordan 191 ones.

What's going to happen to the FW24 brakes though... is the FW24 a scrapped kit that won't be built?

I have got the FW24 kit and it is a good kit too. I hope I could start doing it later.
For the kit I have in my shelf is the deluxe kit which goes with white metal calipers, but of course the original plastic calipers is still inside this kit. Therefore, I used this spare parts for the Jordan 191.

This should be something worth watching. Very impressive so far.
The 191 is a very pretty and clean design, from one of my favourite F1 eras. A pitty Herr Schumacher had to be associated with it. :p

I'll stick my neck out and say that along with Gurney's 67 Weslake-Eagle the 191 is the best looking of all F1 cars. I've done a couple of 43'rds of it from Tameo, but I've alway figured on doing the Tamiya kit one day. This looks like it should be a real nice build, so I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.

Mic,
Where did you get the silver funnels from? Or how did you make them?
I machine my own out of aluminum. If enough people are interested, I might think about selling some. If someone does want a set, PM me and we'll talk about it :)
BTW, Mic, I'm still :banghead: waiting for the Perfect Formula Manual from HLJ. I hope I get it soon so I can send you those pics I promised :)
Your model is looking great. I hope I can achieve that with my own :)
Regards,
Pedro.

It is okay as I am still doing the engine and I will leave the front section later on. Dont worry and we have plenty of time for modeling. :iceslolan
Yes, normally it would take 10-14 days for delivery after receiving the shipping confirmation from HLJ.

Beautiful example of the 191, After I finish my MP4/4, I'm going to get that and the Tyrrell P34, but instead to make it race spec, it'd be in raw carbon fiber to dupliacate the launch version.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/19083529031_29255_019_1024768-med.jpg
The orginal seat-belt had been grinded and filled by putty and then sanded out until it gives a smooth surface.

1.
What is this Modelers Interior Coat you mentioned?
2.
What did you use to grind out the moulded seatbelts?
Cheers,

Hello Mark
Thank you for the questions
1. The interior coat would make surface rough and it is manufactured by Modelers which could be find in HLJ and there are 4 colours: Tan, Grey, Red and Blue.
2. Basically, it is accomplished by using mini rotary tools.
Hope this help

That interior coat looks interesting, similar to SMS Fauxfabric, but they won't ship outside of the continental US. Thanks for the tip!

Mic,
On the last pic above this post, you've shown the exhaust pipes. It looks like you've put in some weld seams. Is this correct?
I'm experimenting with this on the Leyton House I'm currently building, and would love some tips and pics on what you've done.

Hey man, very nice car. I can find only one mistake, that it's Schumi's car :naughty: just kidding.
I never heard of that Interior coat. You said you got it from HLJ. I searched their site, but couldn't find it.
Do you know who makes it and where ik can find it on HLJ.com
Thx dude.

Tonight I have done some work on the cockpit of the 191.
Scratch built gas/brake pedals, insertion of extra section for inside the cockpit, now putting them together...

Some more update on the Jordan 191:
I have started decaling the monoque and engine cowl last night. The decal had been used is from Studio 27 since it provides the conversion decal that the original one didn't include.

Hello all
Finally, I have finished the decal on the monoque and engine cowl and now is letting it dry before giving then clear coat.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/mikusen/Jordan%20191/pic009.jpg
For the white-strip on the 2 sides of the engine cowl, it seems that the S27 decal did not come with enough strip, therefore, I have used up the strip from the original kit, have the excessive clear edge to be cut and then put on the decal with decal setter.

Looking good! After the clear is on you'll have a grade-a finish on that body. Like the livery too.
Btw, is it just a camera focus problem or does the '32' have much sharper edges than the textdecals on the wing endplate?

It is true that the area under "32" is originally tapered so it looks thinner near the end of the endplate.
However, this part is a test built that I have done some time ago so I didn't give any paint for this. But I will build another one with some modification to match the Spa version.
Stay tune

Hello all
Some more update on the Jordan 191:
I have tried to paint the tyre marks last night.
I have used the Polycarbonate paint and after that I did some touch up on the marks to give it a dirty look.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/mikusen/Jordan%20191/pic0024.jpg
For the rim, I have it painted with semi-gloss black and then applied the decals from S27.
Finally, I give it a semi-gloss clear coat to have a even brightness and added up the stem valve.
