The real suspension is redone by metal parts and some tuned parts.

The engine cowl had been polished after second clear coat and ready to detail up.

What kind of clear did you use on the car?

Great job so far.

Thank you for the comment :D

To Thesaint111: Yes I have used the SMS CF for the undertray but in 1:20 scale. After that I did some touch up on the CF as the original tone is a bit shiny. I did employ some 1/24 CF for the cockpit, sidepod, etc.

To builder77: I have used the clear paint from Finishers.

Finishers is the best clear I have ever used over decals.

Keep up the good work.

Man, that Jordan is looking awesome! But what really makes my jaw drop is the photography. What setup are you using?

Thank you Phil but I am not a pro on photography and I still have a long way to learn for that :D

My setup for pictures is simple: I have used 2 black card board for the background.

Below is the camera setting for reference.

Camera Model Name
Canon PowerShot Pro1
Tv( Shutter Speed )
4
Av( Aperture Value )
8.0
Flash
On
Color Space
sRGB

Although I have used the super-macro function on the Pro1, the picture would only be shapen on the closest area. Therefore, photo editor software had been employed to shapen the whole picture.

I have used tamiya XF1 as base colour and using Tamiya weathering master for touch up.

Hello all

In order to give more contrast on the engine bay, I have applied CF pattern to the suspensions last night.

Thank you Captain Mark

But don't feel to much pressure on it, you should enjoy modelling, right? :grinno:

My technique for applying CF is that I would use a paint brush to make sure the CF laying flat to the parts.

Hope this help :iceslolan

Are you sure this Jordan had suspension parts made of CF? Back in 1991? I doubt it... But anyway, it looks pretty cool!

I hate to agree (and therefore say anything), but the 191 had alloy suspension members that were painted/coated to a semi-gloss black finish.

The 191 had a carbon fibre front pushrod for at least some events. The rest was as Bill states to the best of my knowledge. The brake ducts were c/f too, rather untidy looking by todays standards.
I like the way those pivot points and shocks are coming along! :)

Stunning.. When you apply the CF, do you make the template a little bigger and then cut the excess off when applied to the part? I need to learn how to do this, as I can't expect SMS to make templates for every single model ever produced....

It looks so good, as CF decals are the next challange for me. Got P/E kinda sorted, CF is next and your CF work looks great.. For my first attempt at CF I ordered SMS templated decals, but as I said this will only take me so far, I need to learn how to make my own..!! Reading freakrays FAQ has helped, but seeing your CF work as made me think just how good this can look..!!

Keep it up, this is one of the best detailed 90's F1 cars I've seen..

I understand from the picture in hand that only the front reforcement bars showing CF pattern. However, I did it to the rest is to give more contrast only.

Hi Joey

Good to see you too. Hope everything is fine at your side.

Basically, I have used the interior coating (which is from Modeler) to give it a rough surface. Until it dried out, I used the #1500 sandpaper to give it a rough sanding.

Hello all

Just a little update for my Jordan :D

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a295/mikusen/Jordan%20191/JR051028014.jpg

I am trying to modify the steering wheel and the shaft so I do some tuned parts from the rotary machine. I still need to detail up for the steering wheel and hope I could sort it out tonight, stay tune!!

Happy Modelling

I continue to be amazed with each update! Is that carbon fibre decal you've used to give the headrest a fabric look? Or something else that does the trick? Also did you notice there is some excess carbon fibre decal or something caught in the crevice where the engine cover will sit.

mic329
10-28-2005, 02:11 AM
Hello Phil

Yes. I have used the CF to cover the headrest and sprayed it with flat black colour to give some touch up.

Also, you noticed that some excess carbon fibre decal on the edge since it was torn after the removal of paper tape. I will have this area to CF again. :grinno:

Mikusen,

This is a really beautiful piece of work that you are doing, congratulations!
In one of your previous updates you said that the suspension arm were aftermarket metal upgrade parts. They certainly look beautifully detailed even prior to your cf work. Which company did you get these from?
