Changing battery in car

I have a 99 accord ex, and I need to change the battery. Will I be able to do this myself? I have changed batteries before, but I don't have the codes for my stereo and didn't know if this would be affected by my changing the battery.

Yes, you can do it by yourself, changing car's battery is easy. I'm not sure about input the code for the stereo, do you have the factory stereo or something? I think only cars with the factory stereo required to input the codes after "changing battery" process is done. I did not have to input the codes because I don't use the factory stereo.

Yes, I do have a factory stereo. So, I will need to find out the codes before I pull the battery?

Yes, you should have the code just in case, as you will probably have to enter it. Check your glovebox, it usually is written on something in there.

man, I'm surprised that no one knows about the codes. Isn't that dealer's fault? or something? So yeah, lamehonda, check the owner's manual booklet, or check the glovebox to see if you could obtain the codes for your stereo. Good luck buddy.

what do the codes look like? I have an envelope in the glovebox with several possibilities on it.

one with 5 numbers:
11111
one with 6 numbers:
111111
one with three letters and five numbers:
REF-11111
One with two letters and four numbers:
NN-1111

All 1's are made up so that my stereo is still in my car come morning.

Do any of these sound like stereo codes?

Well I do not know about the year of your car. But I have a 2005 and the number form mine is 5 digits fomr 1-6.

Well at least that is what I think the right number is.

you can hook a jumper wire from another battery to ground and hook the power lead to the under hood fuse box were the power wire comes in off the original battery so when you disconnect the old battery you can put the new one in without loosing memory.

A jumper box will do the same. Probably even a battery charger if it has a high enough charge rate.

I would NOT recommend using. a battery charger. If you connect it to the car WITHOUT a battery, the voltage will be SIGNIFICANTLY higher than 12v, and you could do all kinds of (very expensive) electrical damage.

go to an autozone or something and pick up a thing that plugs into the ciggarette lighter. i forget what it's called but it's specifically for this use. Sends power to all the electronics for like 10 minutes or sumthing....

If you cant find the cards with your code on them, get the VIN off your car and go to the dealer. Im pretty sure they can look it up.

Now thats a rip off. If you want PM me the serial number off the back of the radio and i will look it up in the computer and get you the code.

Also not all dealers put the radio tag in the same place. Some put it in the glove box. Some put it on the top side of the pocket under the radio. Others put it on the bottum side of the ash tray. It all depends on the specific dealer and the guy who PDI's the car

Well i dunno about that, all i know is that the guy i talked to laughed at the fact i couldnt figure it out, and without thinking showed me where it was. I know my car came from williamsburg soo there is noway his car came from the same dealer, not to mention he has had Hondas all over.

So if you are looking at your engine bay, look towards the back on the passenger side riight up near where the windshield starts. There is a black box, the top pops right off and on the underside there should be two white stickers with numbers on them, one long and the other short.
