well i was wondering where would my car's ECU be located?
I never did any sort of looking nor interested into knowing where it was!
Anyone with a qucky answer?
thanks,
Meti

It's the black box behind your stock air box. It is bolted to the same bracket that your airbox is bolted too. It's left of the driverside strut tower, if you're facing the car with the hood open.

o ok thanks alot man!
Now i know where it is!

No prob meti. I'm just curious though, what do you need to know for? Installing a replacement or somethin?

meti

well I am making a list on things I can do to make it go faster and one of them is to reprogramm the ECU so than I was wondering where it was!

Everything is so expensive for grand am though. and very rare to find.
for example: like a dual muffler that i want just like the one i have but better tips and better sound of course! I havent found one yet and i still want 4 or 2 big tips to come out when the new one goes in!

Simple wording: "they just make it too hard for private people to work on these things" damn pontiac! lol

well you can't find a reprogrammed ECU for your Grand Am meti (same as my car) - You can get a reprogrammed PCM. That's the part you need reprogrammed. It is actually located underneath the dash, on the driver's side, I believe. There's a company that makes one called Digital Horsepower (you often see them called DHP).

Go to http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com/ and you'll find the one I'm talking about.

There's another company that makes one for our car too. Go to www.grandamgt.com and do a search and you'll find everything you need to know on PCM's and whatnot.

Sidenote: I noticed you live in Mason? I live in St. Johns. I think you're the closest person yet that I've seen on here. What school do you go to?

meti

haha thats awsome and i checked out the site you gave me, and you are right!!!
yeah I live in Mason and am a senior at Mason High.

I have been in St. Johns few times...and thanks for the help man! appreciate it cuz now i am just trying to learn new and new stuff about machines and cars because i love them. But I know some basic stuff and not enough though lol

yeh no problem meti. Any other questions and feel free to ask - there's lots of people on here that know lots - They've really helped me out with all my questions, and they'll help you too.

Another great grand am forum is www.grandamgt.com - you can find anything in the world on grand am's there.

Do you know Robert Poxson or Matt Kruise?

Do you know anyone in st. johns?

meti
01-29-2005, 10:47 AM
noh I dont think I do. Well not by their names at least. There was a exchage student from Europe that i knew and who just went back 2 weeks ago. So I went to St. Johnes to see him and take him out a little. :)

Yeah I know about grandamgt.com. its a good place but they are too expensive :(. like for a hood wiht the air pockets = 600$!!! yeah I would add 200$ to that and get a terminator/vader II combo body kit. lol

Ridenour
01-30-2005, 01:50 PM
Oh well yeh I'm not sure exactly which school they go to, but they're too friends of mine and they live down near you. What was that exchange student's name? Was it ivan?

I don't get what you're saying about grandamgt.com? It's a forum, not a place that sells stuff. But that hood you're talking about is the SC/T grand am hood, and it usually runs right around 600 bucks. You probably saw it on another site and got it confused. lol o well. It seems you're into body kits. I'm personally more into performance, I would take that 800 dollars for the body kit and probably buy a set of headers and borla exhaust first, lol, but here's some sites I thought you might like checking out if you're looking for cool body kits:

http://www.rsmracing.com/
http://www.rksport.com/
http://www.andysautosport.com/

All those guys carry body kits for the GA. Enjoy :)

meti
01-30-2005, 09:58 PM
yeah it was some other site lol sry for confusion :(
the exhage studen was Taulant.
But other than andysautosport.com....i never heard of. THey are great and I thank you for sharing them with me!
Well I love performance but I thought for a long time and i came to a conclusion that looks come before performance since the people wont know what i have uder the hood and i really dont have to street/drag race. Not that I dont do it hehe :)

Well cops are really 'dic*s' here in mason and they hate me alot so I do w/e i can just to piss them off. Lansing is cooler though....I just wanna go out of this state though lol.

But what do you have under your car's hood?

I got only a K&N air filer in the filter box. came with the Ram Air. I got a small crappy chip which does a pretty good job when i do over 50mph. I noticed a lil.
I do use 94 octane when i go racing in summer and even may try octane boosters but I know how weak my pistons are and they will melt fast but I'll keep it cool

If when i get money soon I hope! I will proly get racing pistons and cams first than the other stuff.
haha
thats my story pretty much.

its funny: I never got a speeding ticket! muahahah

Ridenour
01-30-2005, 10:58 PM
o yeh no problem. I can see what you mean about looks coming before performance. With my car though, I did some minor looks stuff, and then I decided that there would always be cars in the parking lot that looked cooler then mine, so I decided to workin on engine upgrades.

The performance mods I got are:
Approximately 125 pd weight reduction - still looks completely stock
Warm Air Intake / CAI Hybrid (hard to xplain)
MSD 8mm helicore wires
NGK Iridium XIII Plugs
Removed MAF screen
Polished MAF, minor porting w/ dremmel
Removed intake resonator
Always run premium
Other little minor stuff - Cleaned battery grounds / changed fuel filter / other miniscule crap I can't even remember

Very soon to come: 62 mm throttle body with port matched upper intake manifold
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Hey don't feel bad about only havin that K&N drop-in. That's what I started with, cause I had to find a way to mod mine without my parents knowing. lol. That 'chip' you're talking about is just one of those resistors for your IAT sensor, right? I tried one of those of Ebay, and I noticed a miniscule gain from having it run richer, but after I made my custom intake, I got rid of it. If I were you, in the winter I would take that out. In case you didn't know, the way it adds power is by making your computer think that the air is only 32 degrees, so it dumps in fuel accordingly (colder air is denser, so it takes more fuel to keep ratio correct). However, in the winter, the temperature very frequently goes below that, especially in michigan, and then, you'll in fact be running lean - which kills performance and can be dangerous for your engine. So I would deffinately reccomend taking out that resistor until spring, and if you ever get a warm air intake or cold air intake setup, just lose the resistor completely.

You said you use 94 octane when your racing. I would advise just running straight premium in your car all the time (91 octane). That's all I do. And don't even bother messin around with octane boosters. There's a big myth that people think that higher octane = more power. It's wrong. The only reason your car seems to run better on premium vs. normal, is because higher octane fuel has a longer combustion time, so it runs smoother = less 'knock'. Your knock sensor cuts timing when it reduces knock = killing power, so by running higher octane, you're in fact, for the most part, just preventing your computer from robbing you of power that you already have. So my advice - just run premium w/ no octane booster, and I wouldn't worry about "melting your pistons" LoL - aint gonna happen. I suppose MAYBE if you were running like 110 octane all the time, you could burn your valves, but premium in our cars is fine.

And you said your looking at racing pistons / cams, but I would buy other stuff before you did that Meti. If you ask me, this is the route I would take as far as performance mods:

1) Cold Air Intake / Warm Air Intake setup (I prefer WAI)

2) Remove MAF screen

3) MSD wires / NGK Iridium plugs

4) Lighter billeted underdrive pulley

5) Borla cat-back exhaust system w/ good muffler

6) Headers

7) 62 mm Throttle Body / port matched Upper intake manifold

8) Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

9) Reflashed PCM

10) Ported heads

and the list goes on after that to big stuff...

well that's good you haven't gotten a speeding ticket yet. I for one, don't speed a whole lot except on the freeway. I like to get up to speed quick, but I don't take great joy in driving super fast, which is due partly because I've been in 3 accidents in the last 2 years :( (long story) lol

meti
01-31-2005, 04:10 PM
You know It looks like we have the same deals going on or had with parents but you are way smarter than me lol.

here I got some questions!
1. where would MAF be located in our cars?
2. MSD wires / NGK Iridium plugs>>> I got bosch plugs and some OK ignition wires. The plugs were teh best they had. with 4 metal ignitors.

and I was thinking and planning on getting a lighter underdrive pulley! 160-180$ damn compared to 50$ for 2.4 engines :( haha

Well exhaust system and headers are a lil out of my lines since I have to go to my home country in europe this summer so my savings will be GONE!!! haha

I'll try to keep up and but I really want that headers&exhaust system package thats like 900$. I'll ask Bill Gates for some pockat change!
thanks man,
Meti

Ridenour
01-31-2005, 05:19 PM
no prolem meti. lol yeh we kind of have the same deal - they're against me doing mods, but I talked em into the intake, based on the grounds of "better gas mileage" - especially since I drive about 60 miles a day for one of my classes. Aside from my intake setup, all my other mods they don't know about :) - it's all stuff that they can't see. lol and no I'm not smarter then you man, you just gotta get creative. Hunt around and you'll find out there's lots of stuff you can do that noone will see.

To answer your questions
1. The MAF on our car is as follows. Stand facing the engine. On the right side, you will see the throttle body. Attached to the side, you will see a black rubber section with sensors sticking into it. Past the black rubber section, before your intake, you will see the MAF (It looks like a metal box that's in the middle of the air flow. So it goes

Throttle body || rubber tubing | MAF | intake

It has one plug going into it, and on the side, the direction of the air flow is marked with arrows.

2. I would get rid those plugs right now Meti. If you go search around on www.grandamgt.com for the "Bosch platinum" plugs, you will find TONS of horror stories. I'm sorry to break it to ya, but our cars hate those plugs and people have had tons of problems because they run too hot for our engines. It sucks you didn't find out before you bought them, but I would definately take them out and go with plugs like the NGK Iridiums (heard nothing but good stuff about them for the 3.4), they run cooler for our engine, have a great spark, and noone, including me, has had any problems. I would go with those and MSD wires. If you want a place to get MSD wires, go to www.doctorspeed.com - he sells 8 mm and 8.5 mm. I bought the 8 mm just so I could fit them in the original brackets, if you buy 8.5 mm you'll have to have them loose across the engine block.

lol that's too bad you can't afford the headers and exhaust. They're great things. The thing that sucks for me is, I can afford em, but I couldn't let my parents hear them! and they WOULD hear them! lol. BTW, what country are you from? Are you going to be able to take your car back?

meti
01-31-2005, 07:07 PM
noh this car is for here. But I got a Fiat 2.0L Turbo charged over there. lol that thing is PRETTY FAST. haha Well i originally come from Kosovo. not a country yet but its by Albania.

What school do ya go to?

yeah Man i just found that MAF thingy! lol
my friend was here just and just left but we planned out how we could work with the air flow.
have you noticed the flat tube that sucks in the air into the air filter box? well its under the car to ur left facing it and it has a HUGE bold thingy on the middle. I said WTF? why would they block it? they just need to put like net but not a big thingy.

Well I am thinking about taking the box out soon and getting a cone air filter and put it on. Also put some lines from under the hood facing the frong like the sctock one is but wide open and just free air flowing in under hood. 'air lines'

Ok lets see if you know what i am talking about now:
On top of engine there is the block with 6 curves thingies and its hollow inside and air flows in i think. wow i am bad with terms...but when i take that off, my friend said that I should make the holes a little bigger which will increase the air flow. Makes sense logically but I just wanted to ask you.

Dude since well English is my seconds language but and also learing about this new stuff so i really dont know what everything is called. :(

I'll get that MAF off tomorrow or Saturday and I gotta. Is your car silver? I raced a guy on I-127 with GA GT like 4 months ago and I kinda won but we got pretty high speeds!

Also: I want to get the F-ing governer out lol.
do you think few monds will by pass it?
haha so much to talk about and i just love my car.

do u have a body kit on urs?
if u dont and got the money get a Vadder II front bumper and sideskirts but get a Terminator back bumper! I could show you some pics. I have it all planned out when i get the cash! I wish I was rich. :D

also: tax returns coming in so I'll get the plugs and ignition wires all fixed up! thanks ALOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT :D

Lol no problem Meti. Glad I could help.

That's awesome you got a turbo fiat. I bet that is fast. Yeh I know where Kosovo is - what brought you over here?

I go to st. johns high school

I don't understand the intake thing your talking about with the "bold" thing in it. Are you talking about your intake resonator? (it's the tube that goes down behind your battery)

Those 'air lines' you were talking about kind of sound like the setup I've got. I have a short-ram warm air intake setup, but I've got lines running from the wheel well and from the front fascia edge up to the cone filter - thus it's kind of a warm air / cold air hybrid as I like to call it. :) I'll send you pics sometime if I get the chance.

That "block thing" you're talking about ontop of the engine is the Upper Intake Manifold. Sometimes you'll here it called the UIM. The air that goes through your throttle body goes into that and then into the cylinders. Yeah, making the holes bigger will help with air flow, but if you do that, you must also "port-match" the lower intake manifold so that they line up. That will hardly do anything, unless you get a larger throttle body. So if you want to increase the air flow of the UIM, my advice is to get a 62 mm throttle body, and then port match the opening of your UIM to it, so that they line up smooth with no turbulence.

wait, I'm confused. Why are you taking off your MAF? What are you going to do with it? Tell me before you do anything to it, because guys have done stuff like porting the MAF, and now they run really lean and have ruined their engine. If you take out the MAF, the one thing I suggest is removing your MAF screen. It's a metal honey-comb-like screen that sets in your MAF. Stick a screwdriver or something into it and pry it out, and it'll help a lot with air flow. I noticed gains from it.

Yeh my cars silver. And I raced like 4 months ago on I27!! But it was against a CRX :( LoL Where you by any chance driving a CRX at the time?

Sorry, but there's no way to "remove the govenor" on our car. The only way to remove the speed limiter is to get a reprogrammed PCM, which is what you originally asked about... (the DHP one and stuff) - and no, mods will not "bypass" it, they will just help you get up and reach it faster :)

No, I don't have a body kit on mine. I've done minor appearance stuff, like decals / vinyls / other crap, but nothing major like a body kit. Lol you've talked about that body kit lots - it must be pretty cool. Send me some pics.

Well that's good tax returns are coming to ya - good luck with that ignition stuff.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about it, and everything I've read has rated it higher then those others. If you don't believe me, go on www.grandamgt.com and run a search on it - people love it. I would highly reccomend it.

Hey I forgot to ask you this...

There is this ticking noise as like when you give signal to turn. Its very much random. Mostly when the car is warming up but it does it so random. It from the hazard light switch above the stereo by the Track control button.
Its so annoying and i called the pontiac service and they said that it will cost aroun 70$ to inspect and find the problem.

I just was wondering if you or anyone had this problem and found the cure :)
i get headache alot but i turn the music all away up to not hear it. it ticks and ticks...stupid hazard light switch!!!! :(

Ridenour
02-01-2005, 08:53 PM
I dunno where that first link its from Meti, but I did post that second link. Yes, it's for the 3400 SFI, that's the one we need.

As far as which one to get first, I guess in your case, I would get the pulley first - but keep in mind you will need certain special tools and stuff to change it. Check out this link, it's a how-to for installing the pulley:

http://68.35.89.220/pulley.htm

To answer your question about the ticking - it's known as the "multi-function switch". DO NOT pay the dealer to inspect it and stuff. It is a RECALL issue - it has been recalled, so you should be able to get it done for free. It should cost nothing.

lol I guess "turning the radio up all the way" will have to do until you get it fixed - but it is a recall issue, so don't let any dealer charge you money to get it fixed.

That's good that you're getting the plugs / wires. I'll give you the part number for the NGK plugs - I've got it around here somewhere.

Congratulations on removing your MAF screen :) - You'll notice the difference tommorow driving - at least I did. And yeh, you're right, my screen had a hole in it too, I just ended up throwing it away - it's not like you're ever going to need to put it back in.

o ok nice thanks.
I am writting down all the things and made a list and how much it will cost me to get a thing.

Hey how fast does your car go? 0-60??? approximate?
and do you have the windows tinted...blend in silver style???

Mine is black and black tinted windows. I got 18's Rozzi rims that i put on at summer. (lose alot of horsepower there since they are heavier than stock rims :( )If i dont get the money to get body kit I want. I will just get some clamps and lower the car down!

I think when removed that MAF screen...i got some horse power there.
I'll call up that service again and ask them for the recall. thanks for that dude... :)

I'd say my 0-60 is probably like around 7.5 seconds

I don't have the windows tinted... not sure if I ever will.

Yeh I can believe those rims will slow you down. They say every 1 pound of rotational mass is equal to 10 pounds of normal weight on your car, so if you figuire you gained 3 pounds on each wheel, that's equivilant to having 120 extra pounds of weight in your car. I bet those 18's look nice though. Lol if you want to lower your car, I'd reccomend some Eibach springs - 200$ish

I think when removed that MAF screen...i got some horse power there.
I'll call up that service again and ask them for the recall. thanks for that dude...

Yeh I believe I did definately.

you are way better than 7.5 secs Ridenour. I bealive you are at around 6 seconds per 0-60 depending on weather and driving(start). 1 second is a long long time lol especially when you race. :)

well get new tires and get on the road and test it out....use 1,2,3 manual driving to shift at about 5800RPMs so it will be a pefect RPM when it shifts at low 6000RPM

its like 1....2...3...4...5....6
its a long time lol

Well get your computer reprogrammed then thats when you will get like under 5's lol

I am really looking forward to doing that to my car. :) If I ever get sponsered and get cash...dude i'll come to St. Johns one day and race you lol

Lol, Meti, shifting manually on an automatic is a very bad idea. First of all, shifting it manually is a bad idea just plain by itself - you won't gain time, and there's a high potential for overrevving. Second, shifting at 5800 is a total waste of power. Our car's torque peak is from about 4500 to 5500 rpms. Go out on the road and floor it - you'll notice that 4500 to 5500 is where it pulls really hard, and then after 5500 it just "bwwaaaaa........." like bogs down. You should try to keep it in that torque peak as much as possible. Let up on the gas when you reach about 5500 rpms, and then floor it while it's shifting, that will kind of rev match, so you'll end up keeping the rpm's in the power range.

Well get your computer reprogrammed then thats when you will get like under 5's lol

lol I wish that would happen... Unfortunately, I'd have to do a hell of a lot more to get under 5's....

I am really looking forward to doing that to my car. :) If I ever get sponsered and get cash...dude i'll come to St. Johns one day and race you lol

we are only about 40 miles away one way. Let me know if u come in lansing one day. I'll find ya lol :)

Ha yeh that would kick ass if you got sponsored - if you did everything that wanted to do to your car though, I probably wouldn't want to race because I know I'd get my ass kicked! :)

Yeh you're right - we are pretty close to each other. I get down to lansing pretty frequently. You know where the Eastwood town center is? We should meet somewhere around there like in the spring. Maybe go racing when we're done! :evillol:

I've been meaning to get on MSN to talk to you, but I'm always busy as hell lately - my classes have been ridiculous.

yeah man I know where Eastwood town center is :)

I soppose you are right about 1.2.3 shifting....blah

once like 5-6 months ago. I had a chance to put a stick transmission on my car. Some guy told me that it was possible and hard but passible!!!

My dad was very against it and so i just forgot about it and never was interested again.
Yeah man 4real we can go race. We'll see how much more our cars differ in speed and it will be awsome :)

I like automatic transmission but i just dont like it when i go racing. Well in about 2 months I will put on the rims back on and just enjoy my car for a while and then take off to Europe for some time this summer. :)

I think I am going to borrow money and then return when i get my tax returns. damnit. It takes them F-ers a damn long time to do em.

i got another question: The 62mm throttle body, would it be even better if i get spacers too?

Well my birthday is soon and tax returns soon so eyah i am pretty damn sure i will get some power for my car! :)

If i get sponsered.....i wouldnt be scared to race dude. I will race w/e and i dont care if i loose. And if i TOP END my car's engine then i guess even a lose would be FUN!!! (but am thinking a V-8 would be nice after this one)
I did some calculations and came just bearly above $11000 to do everything to my car that i possibly can.
After i get some performance I might lean toward vertical doors. I found some cheap ones for 250$ which is everything you need and high quality :)

time does its thing and if my jobs fills me up with cash...thats even better!!!
unemployed right now but i am still standing haha :(

Yeh lots of people have wanted to do that tranny swap - it can be done, it's just a huge pain in the ass.

Spacers are actually totally up to you. First of all, there's a myth that they ADD power, but they'd don't. But they can keep your intake air cooler and might help out on hot summer days. I guess it's up to you if you wanna spend like 60 bucks or not. But then again, I'm not sure if you can find spacers that match up to the 62 mm TB. The one's I've seen only fit the stock TB.

LoL Meti, I was saying it was going to be ME that was going to be afraid to race! :) - After you get all those mods you're gonna be untouchable lol

I did some calculations and came just bearly above $11000 to do everything to my car that i possibly can.

Did you mean 1,100 - or did you actually mean 11,000??? Cause that's a hell of a lot of money if that's what you meant!!!

Yeh dude those doors do kick ass! That would be sweat. Is that kit just a hinge kit or what?

Well it sounds like it sucks not having a job right now - good luck with that.

what do you mean by a hinge kit?

lol yes $11,000. I might get sponsered soon and that would ROCK!!!! if they invest 11Gs then we would have something to talk about lol.

I got so much things that i wanna do. I am sure if i get everything I should even beat nice cars lke ferraris F50 and laborghinies lol proly not top speed but i'll smoke them till my engine blows up. lol

when you look at it...sport expensive cars like ferraris arent so fast. 3.5-ish in 0-60mph. Which isnt so great for 250,000 dollars.

Dude sometimes in my life I will truly fix my babe car. Yeah well ok....my mom is being stupid for be being sponserted! blah! my dad is cool though :)

Ok well i need to have a chat with them now.

o yes a hinge kit for vertical doors lol ok if i am correct. It would have be wellded and everything so i dont think you can attack it and detach it w/e you want lol. But its pretty easy to do...take a day or two but it would be worth it! :)

lol well I dunno about that - but 11,000 dollars worth of mods must add a hell of a lot of power :)

when you look at it...sport expensive cars like ferraris arent so fast. 3.5-ish in 0-60mph. Which isnt so great for 250,000 dollars.

Yeh I agree the price to power ratio sucks, but 0-60 in 3.5 seconds is pretty damn fast.

one more thing lol
I have a teacher who has a unknown year Nissan Truck.
here is his issue and then my idea:
The truck starts when its a warm weather.
The truck starts when its a very cold/snow weather.
The truck WONT start when its a wet weather/rainy.
haha so i suggested that water is leaking in the engine and hitting something...like spark plugs or w/e
I am not sure what needs to get wet in order for a engine to not start.

could you guys give me a hand??plzzzzzzzzzzz :)

i know i am full of problems but what can i do! :(

Ridenour
02-09-2005, 04:34 PM
Have fun with that new laptop. I got a HP media center for christmas and it kicks ass! :)

As far as that link, that's designed for the camaros and trans ams if you read the subprint. So I wouldn't try it on our cars. If you're going to get one, go with the FFP one. I've heard nothing but good about that.

As far as your teacher's truck, it sounds like it could be some kind of emissions control issue / maybe even a MAF issue. I've heard water can cause emissions control problems, and may be preventing it from starting. Is it throwing any codes?

And meti, there's nothing wrong with being "full of problems". Lol - that's what we're all here for! :)

lol ok
well his truck tries to start but it just wont fire. starter is fine then and ok i'll take ur advise cuz this weekend i will probably take a look at it in details.
blah ok yeah pulley adn stuff soon to be happening! ok i'll get back to ya when i see somthing new posted :)

Ridenour
02-09-2005, 05:45 PM
O hey just had a new thought. From what you just said, it sounds like the truck might be having the air blocked from the rain. Check out his filter setup. If there's some way that the rain is leaking onto / soaking the filter, it could be doing it enough to make it hard for the engine to suck in air. If he has a stock airbox, make sure there's no leaks or anything that could let in water. If he has some type of other setup, judge it accordingly.

meti
02-09-2005, 06:37 PM
damn i didnt think of that! Well I'll do every experiment possible. lol
i'll pour water and check everything.
I guess we'll see this weekend if he brings it over to my house! he better or it aint getting fixed lol :)

well how many miles do you have on ur grand am?
i got 63000.
average 13000 per year since i bought it :( well i bet ur put alot more since u drive long to go to school but 3.4 SFI engines are fairly cheap lol we'll replace them when we get around 150000 haha

Ridenour
02-10-2005, 05:27 PM
I've got like 37,000-ish on mine. Yeh you're right, I've been putting on 60 a day at least, ever since I've been going to my LAMP class.

Yeh you're right about the 3.4 being cheap. I was on "the floor" of Traver's Auto - Junkyard here in town the other day, and they had like at least 10 of the things all sitting there on pallets. lol I guess I know where to go if I ever need a new one.

meti
02-10-2005, 05:42 PM
lol yeah! thats why i am not too worried about miles. well your car has like no miles lol
Well I go around alot haha and i will probably will start looking for a new one when i step on 100000!
:)

Ridenour
02-10-2005, 06:30 PM
yeh 100,000 would be a good spot. I've been in 3 accidents / driven it hard though, so my 37,000 are probably equivlent to about 60,000 normal miles. :)

I'll probably end up selling my grand am when it gets to about 80,000 miles - due to the fact that that will be late college-ish, and if I get this co-op with GM, I should have plenty of money by then :)

meti
02-10-2005, 07:07 PM
o thats nice! well i drove my car hard since i bought it lol but it had 48000 allready and a lady with kids had it before me! so i dont think she drove it hard :)

well i dont think i will ever sell my car unless i get a MBW Z something or M something! haha :)
well I have never been in a total accident but I was in couple...once spun out on a 25mph ramp....i was doing about 70 or more {lucky thanks God that i dindt flip/roll and i dont know why! but I didnt and just hit the guard rails....broke my drivers side taillight and the bumper was scrached deep! and YES i was racing....since a guy just cut me off doing over 100 and i was just cruising on 80...so i floored it and cought up with him but spun half way in the ramp when i floored it even more}
u know whats the best part? I had a girlfriend with me lol but she wasnt scared!BS thats what she said anyways and i remember watching the rear view mirror! there was so much smoke coming out from tires squeeling and also found out that i had my left side so close to guard rails that i was in sand....so that was low traction lol
blah thats terriably told but thats what happened! weather conditions were dry and no wetness whats so ever! it was embarrasing too though lol 5 days after i had bought the car!
:(
and the other was recently when a stupid bitch/girl hit me! she broke a piece of my passanger side skirt!!! but its all good! i got it fixed allmost all and will be totally fixed when i get body kit sideskirts!

holy shit yeh you're lucky you didn't roll it. I'm suprised when it bit the shoulder going that fast it didn't catch it and roll it like mine. Wow, it sounds like we need more women in the world like your girlfriend. LoL.

Yeh I guess when I sell mine I'll most likely get some kind of F-body like a Camaro or Firebird or something good to start with. Maybe even a GTO - they should be cheap enough by then.

meti
02-12-2005, 11:16 PM
yeah I guess it was her! I wish I still was with her lol
Well some dont bealive me but thats the truth and I sware to God, everything goes through your brain in that split second!

Did you ever notice that our cars sometimes dont kick at 115mph or 120mph? Yeah well its true. I had that happen and i got up to 125mph but i didnt have a radar detector to keep going! I bealive it was around 4200rpm at 125mph or somewhere close!
I didnt want to rist it lol and yes a mercedes was trying to get away but i was actually a tiny bit faster! Like I would move faster by inches faster....very hard to say that i was faster. it was 2.4L engine mercedes. I think it was series of 224 but i know the last digits were 2.4 since that represents the engine size!

Well I agree with you and I see your point of view on getting a bigger car...well for me for now I will keep mine and might get a BMW or nothing else in the future! I love my car and i bealive in it. It never EVER let me down! sware to God! weeding through traffic, racind, slowing/braking, looks on 18's. I love its fat/wide body looks and thats why i think grand am's look better then GTOs!

All cars can be great! So w/e u drive is good! :)
I like the BMW M5 or Z8 or 9...nice kick ass cars! best in the world for buring out! that satisfies me lol

Yeh you're right Meti, our cars aren't governed until 127 or 130, I don't remember which. And then some people have said they've gotten em up to like 150. I've personally never maxed mine out, but that's on my too do list one of these day's at 1:00 AM on the freeway :). Well it sounds like you really love your Grand Am. That's good. I really like mine too, not to mention that it's saved my ass in 3 accidents. LoL. Sounds like you really like Beemer's too. I agree. Most of them are very badass. I would cut off my arm to drive the new M6 or whichever it is (it's like over 500 hp). It's friggin badass. Pretty much all of their models look great (cept for the SUV's, was never wild about those).

I personally am really into the new Caddy's. I go to the Lansing Grand River plant 1/2 of ever day for a class I'm in called LAMP, and my dad works there too, so I get to see the new CTS's / STS's / CTS-V's / SRX's every day! :) They're super badass, specially the new CTS-V and STS-V, and the new CTS super V is a god amongst cars.

hey guys i just got my lightweight pulley in today havent had much time to drive it yet but it did smooth out the acceleration of my car, first of all the reason i got it was my stock balancer was breaking apart so i figured if i have to change it i might as well go for performance. so the new pulley got rid of a lot of vibrations when coasting. just wondering if you guys know how much living at a higher altitude affects the times i just did a hand held 0-60 time and got between 9-10 sec i have been hearing everyone else saying stock should be about 7.5, the reason i am asking is that i live in casper, Wy which is about 5000 ft above sealevel
just figured id pick your brains. oh yeah so far the pulley seems to be a good deal

meti
02-17-2005, 06:12 AM
allright thanks man but can you give me the link where you got ur pulley from?

ummmmm high altitutes? nahhh I think why you got 9-10 was you might have burned out on start and or your car could be loosing some power somewhere like air intake or something! But yes stock cars should do 7.5 0-60.

I'll let Ridenour give his openion! But dude I Rednour: I love all them cars too! They are pricy though and i just would not be able to buy an escalade like my friend 52000$ the longest one they make..biggest and its great though! I love it.

Me and my bro just ordered vertical door kit for my sis's car which is 2002 grand am 2.2L but 2 door. IF that goes well then I can tell you guys where u get them cheap and I also just bought a cone air filter, xenon lamps and i dunno how much money i got left lol

but i think ud get more out of the one from fast foward cause mine was stock size and the one at fast foward is smaller and underdrives your accesories

i belive this is the one Ridenour recomended

i guessn my problem is my car just needs a tune up new spark plugs and whatnot might also be that it has 80k on it

meti

Ridenour
02-18-2005, 05:49 PM
I'm glad to hear that pulley helped, mcbeefer. I think that poor 0-60 time is due mainly to your high altitude. 5000 ft above sealevel has a hell of a lot less oxygen then where me and Meti are at (about 800 ft)

Yeh I like escalade's too meti. My dad had a white one with the like pickup bed-setup, as a company car for a few months, and it was badass :)

Good luck with those vertical doors. Lemme know how those, and the xenon lamps turn out.
