Hey for NGK spark plugs....I went here http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Code=GN3001&Product_Count=6&Category_Code=GAUNDER
and but am not sure if TR55 IX is good? or should i just go for TR55 alone???

let me know and cuz im ready to order them :)
thanks alot buddy!

You need to get the TR55 IX - those are the Iridium ones. Lots of GA'ers have had those, including myself, and we love em. :) - never heard anything bad about them or had any problems with them.

If you're going to get wires to go with those, (which you should) - I would reccomend MSD 8 mm or 8.5 mm - both are sold by doctorspeed (www.doctorspeed.com)

I have MSD 8 mm wires w/ the NGK Iridium TR55IX's, and the setup is a great combo. Those wires and plugs ran much smoother and stronger then my stockers.

tell me something about how and why would you remove the intake resonator? just reviewed this discussion out that i found out that I missed that! haha :(
thanks again and again :) and I will get sparks and cables like tomorrow!

02-20-2005, 08:48 PM
lol no prob meti.

As far as the intake resonator, it's really easy. I did mine myself in about 15 minutes. There's actually instructions online at here:

http://www.n-body.net/tech/techdisplay.php?id=11','750','500

Reading it at first might make it seem harder then it is, but it's not. And you don't really need to buy those fasteners they talk about either - as long as you don't break a shitload of them you should be alright.

meti
02-20-2005, 11:14 PM
check out that link u gave me....what is that silver metal below the resonator, its kinda to the bottom right and has few color tiny cables going to ir!
what is it? My car does not have that!!! I am wondering what it is.

so now I can put the cone filter in the place of the resonator and link it with a tube to the intake, correct?

Man I thought it was going to be easy but the headlight was a bitch and floor all wet and mudy from snow in garage, my mom's impala in the garage too so i didnt have much room but it all went well I guess lol :)
thanks! :D

I'm pretty sure that is just the pump unit for the windshield washer fluid jug. It's a weird picture from a weird angle, so it's probably hard to see it on yours.

Well I thought you were just going to put the cone filter on where the air box is? That's what I would do. Just make it a short-ram setup like mine. Here's those pics of mine that I said I was gonna take:

http://img93.exs.cx/img93/3493/intake25kr.jpg

I like your setup and yes thats what I ment to say but is it possible to put your cone filter where the resonator was? i mean only in dry weathers so it wont get wet but nevermind I like your setup and thats what my first idea was!!!

what is your third picture? I see a tube in the wheel well? I dont get it...is it so when tire moves it circulates air into the tube?
thanks,
Meti :)

did you also take out Ram Air plastic tubing in the front? I think I am goign to take mine out and just let the ram air holes deliver air to engine straight! :)

Ridenour
02-21-2005, 05:01 PM
That tube is just showing where one of my cold air tubes goes outside. See, I have too cold air lines coming up to filter, one goes out to front fascia lip, the other goes out into the wheel well where the colder air is.

And yeh, I took out my ram air tubing. It lets air blow straight at the intake manifold that way.

aaa ic ic! thats very cool man! I'll post pictures too when i get mine down this next weekend if im lucky! :(

meti
02-25-2005, 08:07 PM
OK guys...I just put in the cone air filter and secured it and tomorrow i shall put the air lines! I also painted my yellow battery that from alco delca or w/e....best i could buy! :)

I also put xenon healight bulbs couple of days ago.

I got a problem though....I have been having this "Service Engine Soon" lights up and doesnt go away.
I have 64k miles now and it came on when i was at 60k miles and that i thought was saying time for 60k mile service. I did check about everything at 61k miles and they said "great shape" and now this light comes on? hmmm....can u help me plzzzzzz?
thank you again :)

Ridenour
02-25-2005, 09:54 PM
Awesome meti! now we're talkin! :) lol - u gotta get some pics on here of that stuff.

As far as the Service engine soon light, go to a place like Autozone, AdvanceAuto, Pepboys, ect. and have them read your codes. Most places will do it for free. Get the code read, and write down what it is, and then we'll see what we can do.

meti
02-25-2005, 11:18 PM
yey! ok thanks and i will take pics when i am more done and post here!
:)
Autozone is free....thanks :D

mcbeefer
02-26-2005, 04:02 AM
i would also recomend getting you car read at autozone my service engine light came on not to long ago so i ran it down there and it said that my engine was running rich in which case i cleaned my filter and put in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, my light shut off shortly , at least you will have an idea of what to do if you get it read
by the way thanks for the pics starting to wonder if you were going to post them, just a thought have you thought about replacing the section between the throttle body and air flow sensor, just wondering since you pulled out the screen you'd get smother air flow by running a stright cupling in there.

meti
02-27-2005, 03:47 PM
hehe how do i upload images? lol i dunno shit :(

Ridenour
02-27-2005, 04:28 PM
LoL :) Go to http://www.imageshack.us/ and you can upload each one there, and then when you're done it will tell you the adress of the image near the bottom of the page. You copy that address and put IMG tags around it in your post, and it will show up as a picture. When you post, click go advanced, then push the picture button, and you can paste the adress in there and it will put tags around it for you.

here you go finally got it! the picture with the rims is last summer! :)

Ummm I got a different problem though, u know the steering box fluid by the intake manifold??? well its leaking oil a little. Like it just gets wet. I have replaced the cap because the old one's rubber sealent was bad so now i have a new one and had it for few months and but still continues leaking some oil. Its nothing major but its something that bothers me and makes the engine look old! :(

 Meti that Kicks ass!! :) Well done my young modder! :ylsuper: LoL.

I can see my your intake deffinately took inspiration from mine. It looks totally awesome. I like your neon / switch box / radar detector too. I always wanted to get a radar detector.

That intake and tubing is sharp man. Keep up the good work.

Oh, and about the power steering cap - I'm not sure if this would work, but maybe wrap the threading in teflon tape? It might help seal it good.

Ridenour
03-03-2005, 04:36 PM
Oh I forgot to say - those rims look pretty good too man. I can deffinately see why they slowed you down though - they're huge! :)

meti
03-03-2005, 05:26 PM
;-) OK I'll try to tape it and a friends just suggested to go get some sealing spray and spray it! well I'll try both and w/e but thanks man.

My hands were on blood really from that damn tube....it was so tight and perfect that i didnt have to put a single wire to hold the tube!!!! so damn tight!!! But yea now definitelly im getting enough air. Ram Air shooting at it directly and that tube and my temp stays pretty low and almost never over heats unless i have to keep it on and not moving.
Highways are like freedom....it stay at under 180F degree lol and yes u need a radar detetor haha

and i forgot too that that golf cart race clip on ur sign is tight lol funny!

Well lambo door kit came in yesterday for my sis and if it looks good on her grand am, it will good on mine as well :D

I'll get more pics if i do any more updates....i think i might as well go to casino again and possibly win some more cash like for my birthday! blah i allways loose though but never alot just like 30 or 20 :)
not addicted to anything but cars!

yey!
PS: my sisters car is going to look way tigher than mine. hers is 2.4L but we might order the ULTIMATE body kit of it this coming weekend. the one combo i told u earlier in page 2 or something of this thread! haha

well ttyl man and sry for taking forver to post them pictures :)
THANK YOU!!!! :)

meti
03-03-2005, 05:30 PM
o and i'll post my final interior picture soon! I'll also explain how i got my wiring done! that wasnt easy neither lol PONTIAC SUX when it comes to private people working in em.....

that switch by the neon sensor box is for my roof lights which are illgal and will cut them off if my rador or eyes pick up a cop in vision! haha i got the other switch for radar but u cant see it now.....i'll keep updated :)
cya again LOL

Ridenour
03-06-2005, 05:52 PM
Yeh Meti, that body kit & lambo doors are gonna kick ass - can't wait to see them.

Yeh you're right about the wiring thing - it's a bitch. I've been trying to rig up some red bulbs in my vents and hook them into my dimmer switch, but it's a real pain in the ass.

You have "roof lights?" I don't get what you mean. I've never seen neons on a roof. lol please explain I'm curious :)

meti
03-06-2005, 06:41 PM
i have one green 12" on the moon roof sealent and one of the back window which it hides in the roof so if you look inside you cant see but it shoots light down on the windshield....i'll get u a pic ur confused! haha it kicks ass
and lets say ur facing my car and ur 6' tall or 5' dead on forward and ur just standing...I turn the lights on...u wont see a neon but you will just see green light inside....nothing like a neon tube or anything so it saves me a lil from cops but they could really get me in trouble though haha.....

blah! i'll get some interior pics up soon but cant do anything unless its weekend :(
ttyl man and wish ya luck and any sort of wiring in our cars is a bi**h ;-)

Ridenour
03-10-2005, 09:40 PM
Sweet man. Yeh I think I see what you're saying. Your green 12" one is inside the headliner, right?

I'm going to tackle my red lights inside my vents this weekend - I'll post some pics when I'm done Meti. It should be a relatively easy job, and look badass.

Ridenour
03-14-2005, 05:56 PM
Ok I was wrong Meti. I tried doing those bulbs today, and can't get them too light up. Even if I get it to work, it's going to be a bitch to wire. Im not sure if I plugged into the dimmer switch correctly. The project is currently on hold.

meti

spring brake comin up...let me know if u wanna do this together!
i got a huge line of crap that im doing to cars so u can join us :D other than that i'll get pics soon or after it :)

Ridenour
03-15-2005, 07:18 PM
Man, it'd be awesome to get together over break, but I'm already booked for Florida :( - but Flordia will be awesome cause I'm gonna be down there for 10 days.

After break we're going to have to meet at Eastown or something like I was talking about.

Hey I did another mod yesterday - I put a breather on my intake for my PCV valve. It's hard to explain, but I cut the hose, plugged up the hole for the intake part, and then put a breather filter on it that matches my color scheme. I'll upload a pic so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hey, on either April 14th or April 16th, a guy with a GA with a 1/4 mile trap speed of 125 MPH and a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds is going to be at a track up in Edmore. (it's really easy to get too via US-127 to M-43). I'll get you more details later, but there's going to be a bunch of GA guys there. Me and my friend are hopefully going to go up there - you should come to. It's not every day that you get to see one of the fastest Grand Am's around.

Like I said, I'll PM you more details. I'll upload that pic sometime soon.

Ridenour
03-16-2005, 06:08 PM
Hey Meti, I know you haven't responded from my last post yet, but I just thought I'd fill you in on somethin incase you ever have similar problems - I was experiencing hesitation at 75% to 100% throttle. I pulled the wires, cleaned the connectors on the coil packs, and used Di-Electric grease on them, put them back on, and the shit works like a champ. I also used seafoam in my oil, gas, and direct fed some through my PCV hose. I no longer have any problems - the car runs great. I would highly reccomend using di-electric grease on your wires / spark plugs / coil packs - the stuff works great. And the seamfoam is good stuff - it's a carbon remover that makes things run smoother. Just wanted to make those reccomendations - both are great products.

Talk to you later man

Hey thats awsome dude about Florida! blah! I was plannin on going there too but nope am out of cash lol
Well things are looking great for me when i get back from europe! I got a lined up job that pays good and i'll be full time so I will definitelly put a shit load of cash im my GA!

Yes let me know about that gathering/show with that superfast GA! haha I bet if I do all the things i got in my list approx. 5K cash...i'll be up there as well with this V6 lol
anyways....we'll meet anyday at Eastwood dude.

it would be cool.
IM facing major computer problems even though i bought a new one :( But now i got my laptop running and the new pc will be up too soon!

Hey so what if i put my laptop in my car? haha connecting to the computer system in the car itself? Me and some of my budies planned it out but once again...OUT OF CASH! blah i never knew cash was such a big deal.

well take pics of that mod u did and i'll also use that greese to clean my crap this spring break!

I'll hit you back later when im more stable with these damn computers grrrr HEADACHE big time! :(

Ridenour

Hey that's good to hear about your job Meti. I'm going to Kettering University, and am hopefully going to be able to get a co-op with GM, which would pay tons of money :) - my GA would be the happiest car in town after that.

I'll give you more info on the GA race - I've been talking to that guy - more info on the way. Did I tell you he just put an Eaton Supercharger in his GA? He said he thinks he might be able to get a trap speed of 125 MPH in 1/4 mile.

About your laptop... if you're having problems after you just bought it, isn't it under warranty? If it is, warranty should cover it.

That'd be badass if you put your laptop in your GA. I have heard of / seen software that lets you hook your PC directly to your PCM, not sure if you can get it for the grand am though - but it'd be badass.

I'll get another under-hood pic up in a few days - gotta take the baby out and get her washed up first - hasn't been washed in about 4 weeks :(.

Good luck with your PC.

yeah I am gonna go to LCC (Lansing community college) for couple of years and than MSU for rest of mechanical engineering...I will get a dispatch job where my dad works and im sure i'll get over 10$ on hour and plus tips and plus...every1 that works there is my people lol
well almost everyone :)

OK get me info about that show/race because I really wanna see that bad ass GA and 125mph 1/4mile is something to talk about lol do boubt!!!

I plan in 1 full year after this summer i should have my car completed 100% but u never know i guess

I just got done with lowering the rear end about an inch and also put the rims back on last night and colored the calipers red...so i'll put some pictures in here once we get some sun and i get my lazy ass out there in cold and take a pic or two! haha

hey how fast are the Probe GT olders stule...like 1997-ish not sure but i saw one on highway today and it sounded awsome but i didnt get to race and that i had heavy rims on a friend in the car with me so i would have lost guaranteed buttttttt....u got any idea how fast those things are stock with lets say 40HP extra? haha just wondering how bad i would have lost that race if that guy would have gone the same way as i did and raced

i bought another green tube to go under the hood and i also bought tire valve caps thingies with lighting in them but they look like shit since they stick out way too much :(
n e ways....after spring brake i should have my car all ready to go so i can call it...."my car has been updated officially"
ttyl man :D

Ridenour
03-23-2005, 09:00 PM
Hey LCC is cool - I know a bunch of people that are going there. - good choice for Mech engineering too! :)

Deffinately get some new pics of your car up here - I'm dying to see it. Oh, by the way, I had to remove my PCV breather hose / filter due to idling problems because the hose was crushed too tight into the filter - so i won't be posting those pics after all. How exactly did you go about lowering your back only?

Those probes are all right -my friend has got one actually that's a 97 five speed. I'm pretty sure they're stock @ 150 hp. If you would've not have had your friend / rims, you would've certainly won - I raced my friends and smoked him.

And yeh I've seen those lighting stem cap things - I never tried any. I just currently have some sharp looking blue ones to match my blue / silver color scheme.

meti
03-26-2005, 03:28 PM
I clamped down the springs down a little because I just hate how our cars are high off especially the back end. So i clamped/compressed the springs a little and its cheap and might hurt the springs but o well! ;-)

Haha my rims are so shiny lol
I need more performance damnit! I want that 6.4s 1/4mile!!!! grrrr... mustangs are way over rated....i say that cuz there are millions of htem and they look muscle but if they are not over GT than they sux haha

once again; i will post pictures when i get a chance :)
ttyl buddy!

Ridenour
03-30-2005, 08:15 AM
Hey cool - how'd you go about clamping the springs? I would love to have my car lowered, but be able to raise it in the winter.

Yeh some mustangs are overrated - some are pretty badass though. My friend has the same exact car as me, and he got beat the other day by a 99 mustang GT.

meti
03-30-2005, 12:07 PM
there is a kit at autozone that involves 2 screws adn metal pieces to grab on the springs. its like 10$ kit but I dont think you can aise it back up but you wouldnt need to since you ca just drop it a little...
other than that you can just buy the lowering springs.

Mustang.....yes depending if it has anything special and if it was stick because our cars do a GREAT job against the automatic 4.6L V8.....i tested and won and plus i had rims on too...racing depends alot on the drive too and but I still say mustangs are over rated! haha

its all good though because like you said, some mustangs are total bad ass! :)

tomorrow is last half day of school for me and back to working on cars!!! :D

i'll take pics as i go by

Ridenour
04-11-2005, 05:05 PM
Hey again Meti, sorry I was gone for 10 days.

That sounds like a neat kit. Did lowering it actually make a significant difference in the ride / handling of the car?

Hey I got the details on the MGM (Michigan Grudge Match) coming up that I was telling you about.

It's this Saturday, April 16th
9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (doors open at 8:00)
8 $ at the door as a spectator - 40 $ to race

Here's how to get there:

You need to get onto US 27 freeway and head north towards lansing, take it through lansing towards Clare

Take US 27 freeway all the way past the st. johns exits, stay on it - it will eventually turn into a 55 MPH zone. Stay on it and keep going north.

Stay on it until you get to the M-46 exit.

Get off at the M-46 exit and turn left.

Drive until you get to small town of edmore

turn left at yellow caution light (First street)

drive 6 miles south (through McBride)

Track is on right hand side just beyond McBride.

If you got a cell phone number, PM it to me and I'll give you a ring once we're there. If you still aren't sure how to get there, ask. I hope you can make it. My friend and I are going up (he's a Ford guy, but he's been with me and my grand am exploits since day 1 LOL) - so hopefully we can meet up.

meti
04-12-2005, 08:19 PM

and thats up north haha
I am going to do my absolute best to make it! I really really wanna be there so I'll do what I can but dude...im so low on cash and but im gonna try hard.
If I knew this earlier i would have planned on it haha
its all good and but I'll post later this week for the final answer if i'll be there or not! :(

---car lowered better handling? nahhhh nothing that i can notice...well a little tha the end isnt so lifted up but its all the same.

And all you need is 8 bucks for a seat. Alright I wrote down your cell phone, I hope you can make it up man. Make sure you let me know if you have any other questions. - I'll await your final answer.

Do you guys want a off topic thread for this forum?, I think it would help with relaying info rather than using a techincal thread to do it but I don't have a problem with you using threads like this one if you prefer doing it this way. Let me know what ya think.

I personally think that'd be cool John. I see what you mean - this thread is titled "GA GT 2001 ECU", but we've talked about everything in the damn world in it :). If that's something you want to make John, I'd be fine with it.

meti

yea thats fine with me too

But if some newb wants to learn about his GA he can read this lol
it really tells alot and there is nothing we have missed for simple mods and such.

Hey for that meeting this saturday: is there going to be a similar one any time soon? I was wondering because IM gonna have a hard time to make it there.
just wondering but i'll still post my final answer tomorrow.

PS: i am not sure if i can edit this board since I made it but if I can, I could clean it up later :)

Hey meti. That sucked you couldn't be there saturday, but o well. I heard there's going to be another in either september or in october - maybe you could come up then. It was pretty sweet, and I was pleased with my 15.5 with only a few mods :).

Well we have an off-topic thread now, so I'll talk to you on there. If you're able to delete this thread meti, don't - like you said, we've discussed tons of stuff - I've already linked a couple people with questions to this thread. It's a great resource.

meti
04-18-2005, 10:28 PM
agreed and most likely i will make to the next meet. 15.5 isnt bad at all....take the muffler off lol and u'll get 15.2 or somethin haha

lets go to off topic thread then and i will delete this thread tomorrow or within 72 hrs.
