i am trying to remove the coolant line that runs from left to right and connects right above the thermostat i removed the upper intake manifold and the line runs in the middle of the ports made of metal. the problem im having is how to remove this line from the lower intake if there are no bolts it seems to be a spring coupling but im not sure.. the o ring is no good and coolant is leaking from this spot. i trying to do this myself after having a bad exp with pepboys asking for 500 to replace the lower intake claiming it was cracked??? the van is a 2000 windstar 3.8. view the black coolant line in the center of the picture http://groups.msn.com/FordWindstar/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=21

I also tried to remove that tube when I did my intake manifold job. I finally gave up ... and my lower intake manifold was removed from the block. I had no leak problem, just tried to remove it for kicks.
I would suggest you carry it to a specialty shop that repairs heads and does valve repairs. They should be able to check for cracks and repair them. You need to drain coolant before removing lower intake... and you will need new gaskets and seals.
