I have a 95 SL1. Just had muffler replaced 4 days ago. The temps around here have dropped to about 10F over last couple days.
This morning, whenever I came to a stop at a traffic light, etc., the engine would nearly stall - all systems including heater fans would slow down. The "service engine soon" light also came on.
Could this be related to the muffler replacement (pipe b/w converter and muffler also replaced) or cold or something else? Haven't had error codes checked yet.

Doubtful, sounds like probably more of an alternator/battery problem but check codes and post them.

Thanks. Any other thoughts before I bring it into the repair shop? The alternator was replaced by our local Saturn dealer 3 1/2 yrs ago. I would hope it would last longer than that.

i agree with sickcallaway, unless you whent with oversized cat-back piping.
you can pull the codes this way yourself - http://www.differentracing.com/tech_articles/diag_info.html

Thanks for the help. I'll keep the diagnostic link for future reference.
It turned out to be a malfunctioning ECG (I think) valve. I wanted to be prepared in case I was told it was something more significant.

EGR valve...same as I posted in the 'Stalling when braking' thread
