:L
I just found out that my Impala needs transmission work done...I took it to the tranny shop and they diagnose it with teh OBD unit and the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Powertrain Codes for OBD II (OBD-2) equipped GM vehicles:
P1811 - Maximum Adapt and Long Shift (GM)
The guy said he would need to add some sort of piston/pressure kit or something like that...GM needs to use better quality components and improve their overall assembly quality.

Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to fix it? Did it work? Did you complain or sue? Please let me know...thx.

Are You sure it is the Transmission? You may not believe this, but I was having problems with my transmission, or so I thought, but it turned out to be the Catalytic Converter. I mean the car was changing gears whenever it wanted to, and would barely pull a hill of any kind. It was getting worse and worse every day. Then it started to make a funny noise under the hood. I'd heard the noise before, but could not remember when or why. When I lifted the hood it all came to me. The noise was coming from my exhaust manifold. The exhast was sqeeking by the manifold gasket because it had no where else to go. I went to the back of the car, and checked the tailpipe, and there was absolutely no exhaust coming out. The Catalytic Converter was completely plugged. I had it reoplaced the next day, and it was like having a brand new car with 80,000 miles on it. I'm not saying that this is what you are experiencing, but it is worth looking at. Just make sure the guys at the tranny shop aren't trying to slide you down a greasy pole. Watch yourself. Take care.....

Impala owners of the free world:
Do any of you know anything about traction control messing up, disabling, and/or damaging a shift kit (or perhaps even the tranny)...
I recently had a shift kit installed to eliminate hard (up)shifts (P1811 error code)...There was a noticeable improvement in the shift (crisper and quicker) and no more "hard upshifts", plus the tranny shop cleared the code....
Long story short, it recently snowed here and I found myself and the car stuck (for a few minutes) in snow (3 different occasions the same day...all 10 or 15 minutes apart from each other...)...Anyway, I forgot to turn of the traction control....and the the wheels spun like crazy and the traction control kicked in...
Now shifting isn't as crisp and quick? Did the traction control mess up or damaged the shift kit by any chance?
Please advise & feel free to read my other posts:
