Hello Everyone,
I am very close to calling my 2001 impala ls a lemon after about 3 monts of owning the vehicle and several hundre dollars in repairs.
Here is the issue...Whenever my car sits and has a cold engine it does not want to start unless I press the accelerator, after giving it some gas it starts and then runs fine. And after this is will start fine since the engine is warm. I have had in the shop 4 times now. They have replaced the fuel pump(entire module), fuel pump relay and most recently they did an induction flush, which cleaned the injectors and what not. What is really ticking me off is the fact that sometimes it starts just fine, and other times will not kick over at all. Also this last trip had they replaced the battery and spark plugs. I had taken it to the shop at one point and they were able to start it fine so they were basically telling me that I was flooding it, this last trip the shop foreman was only able to start it by pressing the accelerator, which made me feel good. At any rate I am very frustrated with this issue. I have read many threads and posts relating to starting, but not quite the same issue. The starter seems to be wanting to start, it is just not getting fuel or the right amount. I do know that while I was at the shop they had hooked a pressure guage to the engine and they said that it was getting the correct pressure. I have the car home now and still kinda flaky, it did the same thing as before this morning. I have had many people give me ideas, one being it could be a cool engine sensor. Any other ideas or others with this issue would be great.

I have had the same problems with mine. I have done everything you have done. Mine is still doing it. I have no idea what to do about it. Does your run rough or anything, mine doesn't but i was just wondering.?

Nope, Runs great each and every time after that initial start. I just dont get it either. I know it is a fuel pressure issue. But the shop apparently does not think so.

Unfortunalely or furtunately I am going to be speaking to someone this evening for advice on the "Lemon Law". I feel that is exactly what I have my hands on.
