Audio Input to Stock Radio?

I'm getting a 2001 Impala LS on Tuesday. The radio it comes with has the CD and cassette deck, but is there any way to hard wire in an auxillary input jack (either RCA's or Headphone jack) to hook up an mp3 player? I know I can use the wireless FM transmitter or the cassette adapter, but the quality is not very good. I have an aftermarket radio with this jack in it, but I don't feel much like installing the factory stereo in the trunk or anything like that. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Perhaps this could work?

AAI-GM9 looks like it might work for mine.

Did you read the whole thing? It will only work if you have an external cd or cassette player, if they are both built into the headunit in your car this one will not work.

It would work with a CD changer in the trunk. Maybe I can find one....although I'm not sure I want to buy that and the changer instead of using the tape adapter. We'll see what else turn up.

just go to your local dealer and ask for an adapter to do that, they run about 20 bucks!

Actually, did *YOU* read the whole thing? The AAI-GM24 works for vehicles that do NOT have the external components. Check it out. It looks like it will work for his application.

There is no need for you to be an asshat. I didn't ask the question in a negative way. Reread his post, he asked about the AAI-GM9, which does require an external unit. 8 months ago when this was posted the AAI-GM24 wasn't available.

blazee, I certainly wasn't trying to be any kind of hat. It's my fault for not looking at the post date.
The new product seems to work for his car, but if this post is that old, he probably isn't interested anymore anyway. Good info for anyone in the future, I guess...
