Ambient Temperature Sensor

I have a 2000 Impala LS with the DIC (Driver Information Console) where there is the compass and the outside temperature displayed on it...

Where the outside temperature should be displayed are the letters "OC" which I think mean "open circuit". I bought a new temperature sensor and replaced the old one and the reading still says "OC".

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might be able to fix this problem and get the outside temperature displaying correctly again?

unplug the temp sensor and jump across the plug, mirror should read sc for short circuit, if not probably have broken wire somewhere, only one ive seen in my dealership had wire broken just a few inches from connector. be careful cause a wire can be broken inside insulation and be hard to find. dont know how much help this is but thats all ive run into on this vehicle, good luck

The sensor is located in the front grill of the car. To get to it, you just need to open the hood and take off the plastic part right in the middle at the very front. From there, you can reach down on the inside of the front bumper - that is where the sensor is mounted. The sensor was only like 8 bucks for a new one, but like I said - after I replaced it, it still didn't solve my problem...

I still haven't taken the time to jump across the wires to see if maybe the wiring itself is bad somewhere.

If anyone has any additional info. on this, please let me know !!!!!

Thanks!!!!!
