You're joking right? I can focus far better when I was high than when I drink. Alcohol makes you see double, marijuana does not. But I guess eveyone is different. But after having my own close calls with myself driving or riding along with a drunk. I NEVER drink and drive. It's just not right. I may have one or two beers at most, usually only one per hour. No more than that, but usually i dont even take the chance with that.

A charge huh DVS? Although yall are wasting a lot of smoke there, lol. Those were the days. I use to be a daily smoker. Nothing wrong with it to me. My life didnt revolve around it. Once I was done taking care of all my business for the day I'd light up. Those were the days.

No i'm not actually, i'll get a professional explanation for you when i get home from class this evening but until then know that driving under the influence of weed is far more dangerous than alcohol.

Bullshit. I've driven high off my ass a million times, and its easy. When I drive drunk its hella hard.

edit: I just read the response about supers. I dont think its necessarily the "proximity of the mouth" that is intimate, its the "blowing the air from my lungs into your mouth" thing. along with being 3 inches from my homeboys face. But like you said, we can all be comfortable doing what we're comfortable with. I just wouldnt super with a guy.

But on another note, the first time I did supers with my girlfriend, I hallucinated too. Nothing insane like shrooms (ive never done shrooms but ive heard stories), but I kept seeing little cartoons appear from nowhere, and I couldnt even talk I was too busy laughing my ass off.
a) because I was seeing cartoons and it was funny
b) because my girlfriend was trying to talk to me, and I couldnt remember anything she said over 3 seconds earlier, but I was laughing too hard to tell her that I didnt know what she was talking about, which made me laugh even harder.

Man, those were the days. I think it has something to do with having so little oxygen from supering back and forth, along with being high.

Rick - sounds like a good Sativa. Completely normal. As for driving smashed, done it a million and one times. For as long as 7 hours at a stretch. WAY less dangerous than driving pissed.

Oz what did you think of that report?

Oz

It was spot on. I don't understand how they can legislate against a plant. As if certain aspects of nature are abhorrent and evil. Dickheads.

cocaine is from a plant. I dont think it should be legal. Im sure there were a lot of good points in that report (I didnt read it), but I don't think that just because its a plant it should be okay. But I do think its okay anyways, plant or not.

Bullshit Rick! Cocaine comes after a great number of refinement processes. They are not directly comparable.

CAn someone pm me that link?

And BTW, when you use a butane lighter, you're not inhaling butane. Jeezus, put down the pipe and pay attention in your chemistry glass ;)

I may toke a couple lungs off a j every couple of months with my buddies, but reading the whole magnifying glass thing has got me laughing harder than even the sweetest of bud!

RickwithaTbird

well, OZ first.. Cocaine comes from a plant, and yea, sure its altered, but if you chew coca leaves all day youre gonna get f'd up.. still not worthy of being legal in its purest form.

Steel.. about the butane lighters, the flame doesnt burn 100% of the butane. You can taste it sometimes. The best way to do it is to light if before putting it up to the bowl, and then let it go out, away from the bowl. When you let it go out right next to the bowl, you get a little bit of butane. And if you're worried about that.. then just roll it up in hemp paper. No butane, just hemp and marijuana.

and about a magnifying glass... dude... thats a neat idea, but think about it.. once it gets burning you don't have to light it anymore.. once you take the lighter off it, its just burning naturally, as if you lit it with the sun. No difference really.

Steel

Pfft. You're inhaling smoke into your lungs anyway, who cares if you get a micorgram of diluted butane added to a lot more THC.

I would always use a zippo. Then again, i don't smoke outta pipes or bongs or any of those crazy contraptions anymore. Those were the old college days. If teh occasion should arise, I like to toke on a good ole 50/50 spliff or a nice flavored blunt.

RickwithaTbird
02-18-2005, 10:05 PM
a microgram of butane is kinda bad 20 times a day. Im not the type to complain about it though, I use BICs because I cant afford zippos. But I havent smoked much at all (less than 5 times) since about midway through October. I plan to smoke again one day, but not yet because I realize the effect it has on my learning abilities, and I plan on learning a lot over the next few years. Im a little bit slower of a learner than I was before... and thats kinda bad because Ive always been the type that needed to hear things or see things or do things a few times before I really got the clue... Im not stupid though, Im actually pretty smart, Im just a slow learner, and weed definitely does not help.

zippos are like the rolex of lighters. usually, when the lady at 7-eleven has her back turned, reaching for my peach white owl, i'll swipe a bic or two.

btw- what are some good songs while your blazed?
my top 3
1.Stranglehold by Ted Nugent
2. Santeria by Sublime
3. i dont know the name of the song or band but it goes "she was blinded by the light, revved up like a duece another roller in the night"

you theif... you cheap theif.. lol.. bics are like a buck.. pay for it you cheap bastard! How old are you? Its like stealing a damn candy bar. save that for the kids.

Rick James - Mary Jane

and I'd like to see that explanation about how much more dangerous it is to drive high, than drunk. Because I want to see how pathetic people will be to try and prove that weed is so bad. I can drive while getting high, after being high off my ass already. No way can I get drunk off my ass, and then get even drunker while driving. That is just absolutely wrong.

man, you never hear "man, 30 years old, kills two in a traffic accident saturday night. police say he was under the influence of marijuana." its always someone thats piss drunk! and you can snap out of a buzz, when your drunk, well, your fk'ed up.

and another thing, you never hear of anyone with lung cancer from smoking herb. what gives? in school, the ads used to say" smoking one joint is equal to the tar of 20 cigarretes." the TRUTH company does a good job at attacking the tabacco companies, now its time they go for the alcholic ones. people choose to light up that cig. people dont choose to have some drunk ass loser ram into them and take thier life!

aaaaaahhhhhhh the fk'n government! why must you be such shady bastards!!!!!

oh and what ever happened to the legalization in Las Vegas awhile back? i heard about them voting about it and them that was it. legal possesion up to 3 oz. and did anyone ever find the name of that song?

This thread seems to once again turned into the Cheech and Chong Bong Hour. I also see nothing but a bunch of people wanting this stuff legalized so they won't have such a hard time getting their hands on it to get stoned. I'd like to throw a few facts out because I'm a little tired of hearing the "I smoke pot and have never felt better and drive perfect while I'm stoned."

THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) affects the nerve cells in the part of the brain where memories are formed.

Marijuana can seriously affect your sense of time and your coordination, impacting things like driving. In 2002, nearly 120,000 people were admitted to emergency rooms suffering from marijuana-related problems, an increase of more than 139 percent since 1995.

There are more than 400 known chemicals in marijuana. A single joint contains four times as much cancer-causing tar as a filtered cigarette.

Marijuana can limit your body's ability to fight off infection. Long-term marijuana use can even increase the risk of developing certain mental illnesses.

Source: http://www.health.org/govpubs/phd641/

I'd also like to add one last note to this. I said before that in my government class we had debates and two people picked the legalization of marijuana. They had close to two months to prepare for their debate. One person picked not to legalize it and the another picked to legalize it.

Anyway, when the debate rolled around the person who was for the legalization of it used pretty much the same arguments you people are using and one by one they were all shot down by the person against it. In the end the judges said the person against marijuana won the debate in every catagory and every section. Face it people, there are too many counter points out there against marijuana so it's never going to be legalized.

fine with me. its more fun when its illegal.

Oz
02-20-2005, 08:04 PM
I don't think people want it legalized because of difficulty with supply. I have never had any problems.

I think it has to do with the fact that it has less negative impact on society and the body than alcohol, yet it remains a criminal offense.

The guy who buys 3 cases of beer at the grog shop - is he an alcoholic? Is he a bar manager? Is he stocking up for a party on the weekend? Other? Who the fuck knows. Same with weed - if I went out and bought 3 ounces I would be in some trouble. And those same sort of aspersions would be cast.

dickswhip00gs
02-20-2005, 08:22 PM
its much more fun when its illegal. the pigs around here usually dont bust people for herb as long as its not over the 23 gram limit. and its much easier to get weed than beer. just gotta be strait up with 'em-"yeah i was smokin a blunt" then they'll search your car and if you dont exceed the limit or have any other contrband or warrants, they'll tell you to go home.

and its not turning into cheech and chong bong hour. just a few people discussing herbage. if you bought three oz. you would probably get felony charges- felony possesion with intent to distribute and trafficing.

Oz

Precisely - whether that was the intention or not.

if this is going to be a legitimate argument there should be less abductive points, whether or not you feel like you can drive better stoned than drunk, is not able to be proven and has no bearing in a real argument, unless you have evidence to back up the claim. although i do definitely agree.

and just cuz in your debate class, the anti marijuna kid won the argument doesn't mean he's right, it just means he defended his point better.

i want it legal primarily for the fact that i'm sick of paying tax dollars to jail non-violent criminals who possessed or distributed marijuana. on top of that, what better way to end the war on drugs and allocate the funds more appropriately than to legalize the use of marijuana recreationally. we spend millions of dollars a year to keep a fucking plant illegal. that's a fact. gimme a break. Fact: our federal govt. spent 15 billion dollars in 1997 on the war on drugs, which doesn't account for donations from private companies. now not all of it goes to keeping weed illegal, but what could our govt. do with an extra billion dollars or so? hmmm.

also, sure there's 400 plus chemicals released when smoking marijuana, but there are thousands released(4000) when smoking a cigarette(Source) (http://web.ask.com/redir?u=http%3A%2F%2Ftm.wc.ask.com%2Fr%3Ft%3Dan%26 s%3Da%26sv%3Dz6f5372c1%26uid%3D0484609E23931E5F3%2 6sid%3D1AFBDB76EDE20A124%26o%3D0%26qid%3DC46E9F296 B98414896A4E11CA8A2D59D%26io%3D0%26ask%3Dhow%2Bman y%2Bchemicals%2Bare%2Breleased%2Bwhen%2Bsmoking%2B a%2Bcigarette%26uip%3D435695fb%26en%3Dte%26eo%3D-100%26pt%3DWHAT'S%2520IN%2520CIGARETTE%2520SMOKE%2 53F%26ac%3D24%26qs%3D0%26pg%3D1%26ep%3D1%26te_par% 3D108%26te_id%3D%26u%3Dhttp%253a%252f%252fwww.mydr .com.au%252fdefault.asp%253farticle%253d2906&bpg=http%3A%2F%2Fweb.ask.com%2Fweb%3Fq%3Dhow%2Bman y%2Bchemicals%2Bare%2Breleased%2Bwhen%2Bsmoking%2B a%2Bcigarette%26o%3D0%26page%3D1&q=how%20many%20chemicals%20are%20released%20when%2 0smoking%20a%20cigarette&s=a&bu=http%3a%2f%2fwww.mydr.com.au%2fdefault.asp%3far ticle%3d2906&qte=0&o=0&abs=...do%20you%20know%3F%20Smoking%20Cost%20Calcu lator%3A%20...%20There%20are%20more%20than%204000% 20chemicals%20in%20tobacco%20smoke%2C%20many%20of% 20which%20are%20...%20a%20cigarette%20burns%2C%20t ar%20is...&tit=WHAT'S%20IN%20CIGARETTE%20SMOKE%3F&bin=&cat=wp&purl=http%3A%2F%2Ftm.wc.ask.com%2Fi%2Fb.html%3Ft%3 Dan%26s%3Da%26uid%3D0484609E23931E5F3%26sid%3D1AFB DB76EDE20A124%26qid%3DC46E9F296B98414896A4E11CA8A2 D59D%26io%3D%26sv%3Dz6f5372c1%26o%3D0%26ask%3Dhow% 2Bmany%2Bchemicals%2Bare%2Breleased%2Bwhen%2Bsmoki ng%2Ba%2Bcigarette%26uip%3D435695fb%26en%3Dbm%26eo %3D-100%26pt%3D%26ac%3D3%26qs%3D0%26pg%3D1%26u%3Dhttp% 3A%2F%2Fmyjeeves.ask.com%2Faction%2Fsnip&Complete=1), not to mention people who smoke weed, smoke a few times a day at most, people who smoke cigarettes smoke as many as a whole pack of them a day. I didn't know that bout the beer guys. Seems as though they were afraid of losing business. People would still drink thats a fact. Look back to the days of prohibition and all the mass numbers of people making their own bathtub gin and just dying to go to the speakeasies. It became so unbearable that the govt had no choice but to erase the prohibition law.

To me, whether I had ever smoked weed or not, I think the billions wasted on the war against drugs has been pointless. I mean, it's not like drugs are scarce and hard to come by. If you really wanted something whether it is coke, heroin, weed, xtc, etc. there is bound to be someone in your town that has some. Not to mention I bet the govt is responsible for redistributing the drugs back into society just to purposely try and put people away. Pretty fucked up if they do.

if you've ever listened to tupac a lot or read anything concerning the black panthers, there's a belief that our govt. invented crack cocaine and distributed it throughout ghetto's as a form of populus control. whehter it be controlled by arresting them for distrbuting/posessing it, or just them dying from using it, they're plan was to keep those in the ghetto still in the ghetto, kind of a thing. it's definitely fucked up.

you know, you borught up really good point about the war on drugs. its the same reason why communism would never work- people are naturaly greedy and hungry for a fix. you are ever so correct that the war on drugs is a losing battle. there are more under paid and overworked crooked cops than drug lords. and for every oz they take off the street, another pound is creeping in behind thier back. and the point brought up about jailing non-violent people. i read some place that it costs like $36,000 a year per prisoner for housing, food and whatever else. thats crazy!

its funny, how the big "tabacco" and "alcohol" companies are in bed with the government. much the same way as the oil/petroleum companies. and how our politicians are some ofthe shadiest bastards around. like someone mentioned in a post before- in amsterdam the drugs aren't legal, but the cops dont waste thier time busting people for stupid shit. and the drug rate is low.

i think tupac may have a point too. the government invented acid in the 50's or 60's to drug soviet spies or some other shit. funny story- Grace Slick of jefferson airship/starship fame was banned from the white house after trying to spike Richard Nixon's coffee with LSD.

it's really funny how our government supports tobacco farmers with price support programs and subsidies, but then turns arouns and does anti-tobacco ads such as truth. who's gonna suffer the most if the world quit smoking cigarettes? the tobacco farmers, the people that our government spends our tax dollars to both help and hinder at the same time. it's almost maddening.

funny story- Grace Slick of jefferson airship/starship fame was banned from the white house after trying to spike Richard Nixon's coffee with LSD.he's lucky that was back then, today he'd have probably been charged with attempted murder/assassination, treason, all sorts of shit.

I don't see any reason to give up the war on drugs, but at least cut the war on marijuana out of the mix. Even if its a losing battle against coke, etc. its still necessary.

About beer companies contributing the most to the war on drugs, I see why. Beer is cheaper than weed. But if weed becomes legal, it would be some hardcore competition. My ex roommate and I used to smoke weed all day every day, but then he lost his good paying job (its a fucked up story, had nothing to do with the weed, trust me), and since he couldnt afford a twenty sack a day, he started drinking beer. Then when he got another good job he started smoking weed again. Imagine how many people would drink less beer if they could get high for the same price (not to mention, LEGALLY).

yeah exactly. If there was no such thing as weed, then coke would be the gateway drug. Its all about the person's personality. If you dont wanna be a drug addict then you wont do more drugs, but if you have to be high then you will never be satisfied with any drug, you will always wanna be higher. Thats not weeds fault.

I personally think cigarettes or alcohol are gateway drugs. They both give you something of a buzz. Cigarettes and alcohol both have people addicted.

not to mention that marijuana use is so common that it only makes sense that people try it first. i knew where to get weed before i knew where to get anything else, but i definitley smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol before i tried weed.

:iagree: ya, i tried cigs when i was like 11, i got drunk at my moms wedding at 13, and high when i was 15. my brother smoked and i hung out with them, and wanted to try it. i knew it wasnt that bad. my mom even told me she smoked bud when i was 15. buy 19 i was smokin with her. i tried ither drugs at 16+, but didnt like any of it, so i went back to weed only.(never tried coke, mostly, trips, shrooms, e)and only a couple times.noe of my friends used to dispise us for smokin and just drink. he thought he was better than us or something, till he started doing coke and turned into a loser. its all personal preference. people are gonna experiment, and weed is the weakest thing to try.
put it this way, if there was no weed on this earth, people would still be trying coke, heroin, all that crazy shit.

and people who do smack and smoke 'dem rocks, are on a death sentance. the dirt should be poured on top of them right away. weed doesnt even compare to those two. hell it barely compares to booze. the thing holding pot back is the bad image put upon it. people think- pothed loser, dirt hippie gettin stoned all day of that kindness, when in reality some very proffesional people inhale. the government grows quality :bigthumb: herb on a small scale for medicinal use, so why not try to profit from it on a large scale? damn soccer moms. they forget the kind of shady stuff they did back in thier younger years.

and really, if your kids are fed, the bills are paid, and you've got a roof over your head, and your not out causing trouble, who in the hell has a right to what you can or cant smoke, shoot up, snort or drink? granted some arent good, but its clear that you have your shit together.

Alright, so I know this has been dead for a few weeks, but I decided to to some research on the differences in alcohol and weed. I didn't come up with any links, but I spent a few hundred dollars in my studies. I have been smoking marijuana recreationally for about a week now, after a 5 month break, and have drank a number of times as well. I did all of that for the benefit of this AF thread. Here is what I have come up with:

Weed makes me feel retarded. I cant finish my sentences, and I can't listen to full sentences. I laugh my ass off at whatever is on the tv. I drive fine. All music sounds better. All food tastes better. Everything is funnier. Weed jokes are a hundred times better when you're high.

When I drink, I am more tempted to dance. I can drive fine. I am more infatuated with girls. I can still play darts well. Walking is more difficult. I can spit mad game.

When I smoke and drink, I think of all kinds of funny shit. I make a lot of jokes. I drive fine. I think quick. I spit mad game. The more I smoke the more I can drink.

So basically, if you are going to be driving, it is better to be either drunk AND high, or else neither. Because all the bad side effects are gone when both are used in collaboration. That and you can still spit mad game and drive fine, and drink more.

Well, thats what I have come up with in my research anyways.
