well have you cleaned your air filter for your cold air intake. how many miles are on your car. you could try injector cleaner that you put in your gas tank, or check for fuel leaks. are you experiencing poor fuel economy or are you just trying to cut down on gas costs by get better gas milage to save money at the pump.

For anyone who reached this thread while searching for a remedy for your own fuel consumption problems. Not only will you want to address the issues mentioned above but if you are smelling gas you should get you fuel pressure checked as well.

Oh, never smelled fuel just ran bad. I got mine at seburg muffler. They installed it for 168.00 dollars that included the cat. I finally ran the car for the first time and man was I impressed! This car has never pulled like this before. It jumped to 70 before I new it. I only have the 3400 and it pulled like the 3800. The sound out of the pipes is deeper and a little louder, but nice. I would tell anyone to take off the old cat and replace it.

I have done all the above. What and where is the PCV valve? I have a 02 Impy, 3.8 Automatic. Also, I have just up graded my Paper filter to a K & N Aircharger in my stock air box. Lovin it!

my pcv valve is different (3.4) I think you have the 3.8. on yours take your plastic engine cover off. your pcv valve is on passenger side in front of alternator. there will be an electrical connection. unplug the sensor, then push down and counter clockwise and the cover will come off and you'll see your plastic pcv valve. 3.4 pcv valve is on valve cover right in front of you and its metal. driver side

So, the electrical connection is where the pcv valve is? (under it) How will I know if it needs to be changed?

when you shake it and it moves freely then it is ok. if it doesn't then it's bad. Replace it either way, very cheap.

ATTENTION !!!!! ALL NON-QUALIFIED PERSONEL
not all PCV valves are created equal, a lot of new GM cars don't use the rattly type PCV vales they use what is called a fixed orifice valve (NO MOVING PARTS) so if you shake it, it WON'T rattle and you will throw your money away replacing it because the new one won't rattle either
Also if you do have a shakey type PCV DO NOT use the el-cheapo ones you buy at the freakin grocery store it will cause more stupid problems than your tiny minds can comprehend!!!!!

The original pcv valve rattled when I shook it, so then I replaced it with one that rattled also. I check the computers before sticking anything on my car. Not some NON-QUALIFIED PERSONEL!
