My 96 Accord EX Coupe is at 241,000. I've had it from new and its been great all along until now. It had new brakes, wheel bearings, radiator and starter installed about a year ago. Now it needs new CV axles and the front exhaust pipe is leaking, Also the AC has just gone - Condenser leaking. It drives well and still has the original clutch.
Is it time to cut my losses and junking it or sink the ~$1,000 into it to keep it on the road? - How long more is that clutch likely to last?

I have an '87 Accord LX with 311,000 miles on it and still going strong! Just replaced the catalytic converter 2 months ago (2 mechanics could not figure out why I was losing power, as neither one of them are used to working on Hondas with that many miles). Once the cc was replaced, my old car was back to normal! I even took a photo of the old cc! :grinyes:

My '91 Accord has a little over 252,000 miles on it. The engine is doing just fine. I can go, say, 4K miles between oil changes and don't need to add oil between changes. Putting some fuel injector or fuel system cleaner periodically seems to be necessary to keep it running at it's best, which is fine.

The interior is in good condition. The paint finish is good, but I do have some rust problems developing. I'm a little temped to have some body work done to keep it looking good and just drive it until the engine finally shows signs of it's demise. I believe that could easily be a few more years. However, if I do that, I may need to replace the clutch. I'll probably also have to replace the timing belt again. Don't want to gamble on that.

Have an 86 Accord with 67k, I'm original owner, always garaged.
Car is 22 years old, would have to go another 44 years to reach 200K. Wonder if parts would still be available in 2051!!!!!!

keep the car properly serviced and change the timing belt every 150,000 miles and i believe a honda can actually run forever. i had nothing but good luck out of them and i will always have at least 1 in my driveway with the big "H" on the grill

I have a 1989 Honda accord lxi with fuel injection.. it has 342834 miles on it.. body wise.. well its a lil rough for the wear but the the interior is still in good condition with the only problem being the front carpet needs to be replace due to wear...outside the paint is faded and the clear coat is gone.. headlights have stuck in the up position and it has a slightly damaged front bumper and both doors have been replaced with green doors (my honda is a light brown color) to date it has had precious little maintence other than routine.. oil fluids sparkplugs and wires ect.. ive replaced the alternator once about four yrs ago the cv shafts were replaced only once at 280 000 and the timing belt and water pump was replaced at 317000 (and had original belt and waterpump which everyone tells me thats simply unheard of but my father bought this car for me new and i am the only owner) i love my honda.. ive had other vehicles as well during the times ive owned this car.. but i still love to drive this lil honda five speed. i told my dad when it finally dies im going to put in the yard and cut the top off and make it into a flower garden...lol

92 green accord ( The one you see on goodwill trucks about donating your old car, yeah that is mine) just turned 308,000. Have had all the typical problems, did all the typical maintenance. Burns very little oil between oilchanges ( I just upped the interval to every 4000 miles). Wife's parents were the original owners. Waiting for my wife to get a f/t job so she can get a new car I will sell the honda and drive her 97 maxima with 225,000.

I am very proud of the engineering of honda and my diy maitenance skills to keep it going this long. I still get 26 mpg on the highway and 29 if I use lucas fuel treatment,

Any way I am rambling good luck to all in this crazy quest to get the most out of our cars.

I have a '93 Accord SE with 103700. I bought it 11 wks ago with 98700. The clear coat is fading a bit. Other than that, it is in immaculate shape! I got most of the service records from the previous owner. The local Honda dealer did the service. They are familiar with this car in the shop. I could not ask for a better deal. God leads in mysterious ways .

My 1991 Honda Accord has 281K miles on it. Unfortunately the engine died when the car was on the road. That was very scary. This car had been very reliable until yesterday. Now I have to decide if I need to get another car. :-(

The thought of having to make car payments scares me!

My first car was a 1989 Honda Accord LX. I did the headgasket at around 250k and kept it running up to 310k. I'm not sure what happened, but there was a pop and after that it wouldn't idle. It would start, run for like 3 seconds and shut down unless I kept my foot on the throttle. I'm sure it was a vacuum leak, there were only 40 different lines to check... Whatever the problem was, couldn't find it. However, the guy I sold it to found the problem and had it back on the road a week later. That car was violently opposed to dying.
