I had a similar problem, fan would not work on setting 1, but would work on 2-5. Dealership replaced blower fan resistor that had shorted out. Not sure how much it cost, was covered under warranty.

my 1 and 2 dont work. is there a TSB on this?? i know its a common problem, and if tehre is a TSB im thinking there might be a way to get them to fix it for free, or discounted.

I had mine replaced also, it wasn't a bad fix but I paid 78.57 to have it done...took them about a half hour to do it.

Have not been able to locate a TSB on this.

it should be close to the fan housing under the hood just follow all the wires coming from the fan and you should find anouther plug going into the ac housing at least thats where they used to be in the 80s and 90s

Before you go spending $$ at a dealership, I would check the 4-connector plug on the heater motor. Gms are/were famous for corrosion on these connectors. Remove it, clean the terminals and apply some dielectric grease. You might be surprised.
