I am looking to replace my engine in my 98' SL1. I can get 00-02' engines for good prices. Does anyone know if this will drop in. The 00' engine is a SOHC like my existing one and also 1.9L. Have there been a great many changes since mine was made? Thanks...

*i'm not 100% sure about this*
they have different internals, but the motor mounts will line-up, check the bolt pattern on the intake and exhaust manifolds, i don't think you will be able to reuse the 98 manifolds. also if you are lucky the wiring harness should plug right in, but there is also a small chance you would need to swap the PCM and wiring harness.
check here for more info, eventhough most of the information is for 91-99 DOHC, there is some info that can help you - http://www.turbosaturns.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2211
