Transmission Shutters

I have a 2000 Impala with the 3.4 engine and 4t65-e transaxle and I'm at the end of my rope with this vehicle. About a year and a half ago I took the vehicle to the local dealer to have the transmission serviced before an extended trip (58,000 miles on vehicle at that time with no issues with transmission at all). They flushed the transmission and I picked up later that day. Within 25 miles the transmission would shutter during takeoff. I took it back to the dealer and they went through the transmission replacing the valve body, shaft, seals and several other items. The car seemed fine and we took off for the trip but within 150 miles it was doing it again. I spent a full day of my vacation searching for a dealer who would investigate but no one would touch it because I was out of town and it was an intermittent issue. Upon returning home I had the same dealer look at it again and they found the input clutch slipping and replaced another batch of parts. The car seemed ok for a couple of weeks and then the problem returned. The dealer reviewed all codes but found nothing wrong. After several later attempts the dealer came up with the idea that the K&N Filter I installed had fouled the MAF (mass air flow sensor) and they claimed this caused the problem all along (bulletin 04-07-30-013). The MAF was replaced along with the filter and the problem went away for about 6 weeks. I now have a car I want to sell but nobody will purchase due to this problem. It only shutters from take off under moderate to heavy acceleration. Does anyone have a clue as to what is causing the problem? The dealer obviously does not and I don't feel comfortable having them look at it again.

yea I know what your problem is. i have a 01' 3.4 myself. get ready your transmission is getting ready to go out completely. mine did at 59,500 mi. they said it was because i had a flow master muffler. YEA RIGHT, face it we have flimsy poorly made cars that we paid way too much for.

What do you mean by shudders??? I have had a problem with mine, if i put it in reservse, it will hesisate for a second, then when i put it in drive it will hesitate for a second, then it's fine no problems. I had a valve body thing and some pressure solinoid put in it... it helped considerably but it's still doing it. The dealership said that it was something that slides around on the gears and it needs a little bit of a kick to get it to change.
Hope this helps,
mike
How would a muffler affect the transmission???? Thats like blaming a blown motor on a burned out headlight!! Fricking retards...lol

Check your TCC Solenoid. Known issue on these cars.

shutters - the transmission actually knocks about 4-5 times very quickly for just a second or so. Almost like clutch chattering is the best way to describe it.
With all of these issues why do we hang on to these blasted cars?

ouch. the TCC i suggested earlier would not cause this. sorry for the bad news.
