I was wondering...
having the car for it doesn't mean you do it.
so show yourselves... the ones that DO it sideways.

i do my girlfriend sideways.. but she wont let me take pictures so i can't exactly SHOW you.. you'll just have to take my word..
and lazyfcker, i'm lookin forward to pics..
and jdm guy, you can't just ask for drifting pictures.. i doubt there are more than 3 actual drifters on this forum.. drifting can be classified as an auto sport, whatever the hell that means.. an it takes practice, trial and error and such.. and none of us have the money for trial and error.. so i agree with you in that having a 240 doesn't mean you're a drifter.. buuuuuut i don't see too many guys pretending anyways so its not that big of a deal.. it may not even be a goal of 90% of the guys here.. which now seems a little discouraging since these cars are ideal for it.. personally, i don't see many posers out there cause they know it doesn't take much to take some pics of somebody drifting.. so nobody really pretends to do it...
not to flame anybody who does it but it seems so rare that its like the 1337 of the driving world.. those who actually do it are (to me) above most others that own these cars.. since they're known for the sport..
but i'm rabling.. just got back from the bar.. hopefully some of this makes sense

I'm not asking for actual pictures, i'm just wondering if any of you ever tried, perhaps we could start a discussion on this interesting subject.

Plan on doing it once I get the engine/gearbox swap done, and I have extra money to burn for tyres and such.
Right now I'm content with being a photographer for D1NZ and being on the edge of the track as all manner of RWD monster flies by at 100mph sideways, 10ft away from me.

lol yea not fun in the sand......jk
anyways i dont claim to be a drifter at all, i dont think most people do. YES they may go in a empty parking lot and ATTEMPT to drift, but most of us are kids and dont have near the experience to actually go out a drift on the open roads. So i guess it depends on what your calling drifting. If you mean come home everyday and go out on the roads and just burn up a set of tires (do this repeatedly like its everyday nature) then i dont think anyone on this forum is a drifter....that i know of.

i go sideways and even some times in circles. ynormally, i go late at night into parking lots and if i can get some cones i set up a small course thing. also, i use the light poles like i try and stay the same distance going around them. or some reall deserted back roads i know of (i live in very small populated area they are numerous). but since late at nights people hearing screeching noises and maybe seeing smoke i can't do it for long in parking lots. cops like to come and ask me what i am doing. i say drifting :).

OOOh drifting a great subject in its self. Dragging a car is somewhat easy(unless yur running over 150mph) but drifting takes hella skill and effort. I've seen videos and people doign it and ill say that it looks damn hard and ill have to brass coat my balls before i try it anytime soon. And thats a fact. :banghead:

things wrong w/ fast and the furious lets see for starters horrible acting, they say things about cars that dont make any sense, all the cars have vinyl, ja rule was in the movie, vin diesle was in it, im sure i could go on but im wasting my life away and i dont feel like wasting it away on this topic

Unlike most people here, his sig is lifted from a google image search for 240sx or Silvia. And TFATF and 2F2F were cool movies, I mean the car were nice, the girls were hot, the guys were badass, who cares if the acting was horrible, its not an oscar winner, it's a summer movie to entertain bored teenagers such as myself, people take those movies way to seriously. And besides the floor coming off when the manifold is in danger and double clutching in a drag race, what didn't make sence?

Dragging a car is somewhat easy(unless yur running over 150mph)
Try launching a 350whp car with clutch feathering as traction control. Oh and you can't spin the tires. Yep its easy. Watch out for wheelspin in 1st, 2nd, and the very bottom of 3rd. Whats wrong with FAF? Hmmmmm, didn't see too many things right with it. The supra sounded pretty good, but thats about it.

when i saw the first one i was like "yeah that was a pretty cool movie"...now it has brought so many ricers and more losers that want there cars to be like the ones in the movies. The people at my school were talking shit about cars like they know everything, i ask them what the difference between an inline 6 and a V6 is, they cant even figure it out (im dead serious, no joke).....people shouldnt pretend to be things there not, and be a bunch of posers! The ricers at my school are embarassed to pop the hood. One of the Supras at my school is an automatic and the kid is always attempting to shift it like a manual. The thing is all fucked up in the back and his body kit is unpainted. It's pretty hilarious. No to mention I see riced up Hondas daily with just a fart can on it.

i think the funniest riced out cars arre celicas for some reason that or cavaliers there is this "car club" around here and 3 of the kids have calaliers 2 of them just did engine swap at the shop i goto and they both put N/A SOHC 2.4 in there car i dont know what the stock engine is but if a SOHC 2.4 is a upgrade then its sad and niether of the stock engines were messed up so it seems like a waste to me. i love kids who rep car clubs but are terribly slow
nissanfanatic
12-23-2004, 11:41 AM
Gotta give them credit. IF they are into cavaliers that much, I wouldn't have a problem with them. Its the ones that put a wing and a shift knob on thier car and go out to "catch a light" with someone.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing the same, you know to get the extra power, but actually, my car is pretty potent in stock form, I mean it's got a sweet 2.3 liter powerplant, high redline at about 3500RPM (I'm assuming since it doesn't have a tach), I think peak power is around 90hp, not 90whp, 90bhp. And it puts all that power down through a 3 speed automatic that I have to put in neutral at a red light or it stalls. Talk about a high performance automobile, I have to fill it with premium gas.

first because i came to this thread because the name
i do drift often, but doing it on the road is dangerous and thus i try to avoid that, mostly late nights in parking lots and new housing communities where there are roads and nothing else[before beginning of construction so there are no nails], i try to bring the video camera and a friend along but we don't always tape ourselves
problems with TFATF and 2F2F, first off it just insulted me by being released in my birthday LoL, the tech talk was all meaningless bable, that semi truck was on liftts or something because those civics fit under it, the floor board falling out i son't understand [1. the manifold warning??? 2. why is the floor board only bolted on???], double clutching in a 1/4 mile, they got rid of the skyline for an EVO [no offense its a great car but a skyline is better], and the WORST part to me is the innumerable amount of ricers that it spawned
body kits, sticker, rims, jumbo wings, and custom paint DO NOT make the car any faster
I like drifting because it doesn't use that much money [well except for parts you may break] it also uses alot more skill than drag, which i will give credit to using skills as well, i know because i beat a 400whp eclispe in my 220whp 240sx, better driving

He had to keep the Evo because #1 his Skyline was impounded and #2 the Evo was wired and shit. If you mean the producers changed the car it's because they had huge influence from Mitsu (didn't you realize the main cars were a Spyder and an Evo?) And who cares if there are ricers out there, sure I hate them to, I'm a Ricist like alot of others here, but having alot of them just means more people to beat down when you have a good car.

Frame damage ay. you must have been either spinning out good or going pretty fast in order for that one to happen (depending on were ya damaged it). If you keep smacking your car up with yourself in it, I would watch out for whiplash. No way you'll be able to get the money to go to the hospital to recover.
