manual to power windows

I searched the psot and stuff but no one has talked about what i need to know. I have a 88 4 door dx and im gettin a 90-91 4 door lx parts car. I was wondering if i could change the doors and wire everything up and have the power options?

Um... no doors, but you can swap out the power windows...

are there any how-to's? I guess ive never even really considered doing it, but now that i think about it, that would be an easy and really cool mod. power windows.... wow.... :naughty:

I have the 4 door power window units in my 91 Si. They work perfectly.
I did have to modify them slightly, but they are flawless.

HOLY MONKEY CRAP!!! I never thought of having power windows before. I didn't even know it was possible from a 4-door.

Please, tell me more! Did the equipment bolt right up and how did you manage to get power to them?

Look on ebay for something called a spal conversion kit. Im ordering them and putting them in my 2 door 89 rex. $70-150 some have switches some dont. heres a guide kinda.

I would have to disagree with the spal kits, let me explaine; I used too install those kits. They do work, they are hard to fit sometimes, and are not reliable. When they work, they are great, but......... The factory equipment is always a better choice, IMO.

I just thought of something... After you get the power windows in and all, what do you do with the spot where the crank was? Is there just a hole there now? Do you find something to plug it up??

I read your how-to on it and it's pretty good. But my question is, did the whole regulator bolt right up with now bolts missing or did you have to drill a few holes? And is it a perfect fit and how long did it take you do it on just one door? You've got my interest! :)

my tweeters found a new home when i went from manual to power windows, fits perfectly in the hole from the crank handle...

there is actually two sets of holes. one set the manual window units fit into, and an extra set for the power units. there are no holes to drill. They will bolt right in.

Wow, so my hatchback doors came from the factory with holes for the power window regulator too? Awesome. This is my next project! :D

I was thinking of doing this too, my take (I doubt an original one) was to use the 4 door switches and to use window openers for the rear quarter windows too. Sounded like a cool idea just have to find out how to do it...

the spal kit comes with little black caps to put in the holes if you are wondering.

I took my car to a certified honda dealership and had them install my power windows. I'm also going to have them put in a sunroof :)

when i put power windows on my hatch i used an aftermarket kit from spal that i got from the stereo shop where i work at and the instructions were really ok and (knock on wood) i haven't had any problem in the two years they've been on my car i hope this helps someone
