My daughter has a '90 sable w/ the 3.0 motor, and it will not idle for at least the first 15-20 minutes. after that when idling the rpm comstantly surges up and down. The tech where she bought the car says the oxygen sensor is bad. Can anybody tell me where the thing is, is it hard to replace, and are there any online versions of a repair manual for this car ? If not can someone explain the procedure to me ? Lastly, do the symtoms I've described sound like correct diagnosis was made ? Thank you so much if anyone can help.

The O senson is usually located in the exhaust system, after the manifold and before the catalyc converter. Some cars may have two sensors, so you will have to replace both. I'm not sure that this will solve your problem, thou. I would start by checking for broken vacuum lines, air filter, or clogged PVC.
