Here's something I started about two months ago. Haven't touched it since last week and finally got most of the bodykit done. The front bumper isn't exactly 100% to my liking but its coming along pretty good.

I took my time on the custom work on this one as I wanted to miniize the use of putty. So far the front bumper has required putty (as most of the bodywork on it is putty) while the sideskirts and rear bumper has yet to see any. I'm sure that will change as I reveal flaws with a bit of primer.

Its got a VIPish look which I like. I've also tried using a set of Racing Harts but the width of the wheels interfere with the suspension and I'm a bit lazy to do work on the chassis and suspension as well.

The car has not been lowered but suprisingly the impression of a lowered look was achieved through the bodykit. Anyway, comments are always welcome.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys! I'm eager to finish this one off too! Its been a bit cold here so I don't want to rush into painting this guy just yet.

I'm thinking of Gunze white with some Pearl EX Micro Micropearl White and a bit of either Interference Blue or Interference Red mixed in.

I'm also considering tinting the housings of both the headlights and tail light assemblies with a shade of Tamiya Smoke. I don't want to go with a straight black housing but a tint would suffice.

How's that sound for a plan?

This may very well be my first model of 2005 :icon16: !

I got the body sanded down and deepened the panel lines a bit. Here's the first look with some primer on. I've mocked up a set of Racing Harts on there to see how they look... pretty good but they fill up the wheel wells so well that I'll have trouble fitting them in on the car if I decide to use them. Decisions... decisions...

Merry Christmas!!

Thanks guys. The Racing Harts are beginning to grow on me so I decided to put them on the suspension to see how they fit. Its a big job to get them to go on properly. The suspension arms are interfering with the wheel as they are rather wide. Even with the wheels pushed as far as I can get them, the wheels stick out pretty far. It makes the wheels look grossly out of place. I'll see what I can do to make it happen.

I don't know what you mean about the sideskirts being pulled out from a coupe... if your point is that the sideskirts and the rear bumper are a bit conservative compared to the front bumper, I would agree. In any event, the comment is well taken and am not offended :icon16:.

Hopefully I can put some color on this guy soon.

Try to find a set of 19" VIP tires; they're a little lower on the profile and they'll fit better:).

No where does it post the maker of the model, NOR does it post whether the kit came with the model or it is a t/kit from SAS

Can some one please lend me the answer? The car looks AMAZING, I would ad a FMIC tho jut for my personal taste...

I also thought the side skirts look like they belonged to a coupe. maybe these pics can help. I hope you understand my description.
first pic indicates in green where IMO the lines of the side skirt should be. And red where they are now. So at a direct side view of the car, the side skirt line would follow up to the door jamb lines and flow continuosly. Yours is set a bit shorter, hence why I think it belongs to a coupe.
http://img156.exs.cx/img156/8821/is300doorsideskirt3lj.jpg

and heres a quick PS job on how the result would look if you moved the side skirt lines to the door jambs, just for comparisons sake.
http://img156.exs.cx/img156/1041/is300fixedsideskirt1em.jpg

again this is only my opinion and suggestion. You might be too far ahead to even go back, or maybe even prefer the way your side skirt is. I hope this is taken purely as a suggestion, and not to offend your vision of this masterpiece in the making. Youve done a fine job so far, either way it will be a stunner.

Well if you did your research there is no trans kit for a altezza, and most likely the kit is a fujimi, so that means it was SCRATCHBUILT. Sorry to hijack the thread, the is300 looks stunning, any progress on the porcshe?

I finished painting and polished the body over Xmas vacation. I'm not too happy as the pearl did not come through as strong as I would like it to. Maybe some outdoor pix would work out for me.

I've put three coats of automotive clear on this model and wetsanded with 1000, 1500, and 2000 automotive grit before using the micromesh polishing products. Finished if off with some ScratchX with unbelievable results. All I can say is much thanks to the original poster of the ScratchX thread! The shine is unbelievable and is probably the best finish that I have achieved up to date.

However, I've been having some trouble with achieving the same finish on the spoiler. For some reason, I cannot get the shine that I want. It still is passable but there is a noticable difference between the finish on the body from that of the spoiler when it is place on the trunk. I might have to go and respray the spoiler with some more clear and start the polishing process over again if it doesn't work out. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Thanks for all the comments thus far. I kind of like the sideskirts not streching all the way between the two doors. I found a similar pic on the internet that I have seen with the way I have done mine.

I original idea was to use this kit as my first resin copy test. One thing led to another and I gave up on making copies as I felt that this bodykit did not justify the cost in making copies. I just felt that I can improve on it. So there we go. I'm still interested in trying resin copies for myself one day but until I'm happy with a subject. For now, I'll leave that off on the side.

Now that its clarified that you create your own kits, I personally think that the front bumper is definetly worthy of a resin casting.
