ok i'm getting a trac off light and brake light illuminated at the same time. this is mainly occuring during cold mornings under heavy excelleration. it occasionly happens during the day. the traction control isn't being activated either.

plus the car is runnin hella rich right now. after drivin i get out and smell fuel.

what could this be???

i've been told its could be a blown o2 sensor, maf problem, tranny speed sensor out, abs sensor out, or the tranny speed sensor is fine and the tranny is going out

its a 2000 impala ls with the 3800 series motor and all regular maintenance performed also has 116k on it

thanks for any help with this prob

I would check your fuel pressure regulator. It's known to leak in the engine compartment. I had mine replaced because I would smell gas too after i was done driving it. I would get it check asap so it doesn't cause a fire in the engine compartment..

will that cause the trac. off light and brake light to illluminate together. or is that a different problem. and yea i talked to a mechanic about it and he said he's gunna replace that. my impala also needs to new front struts ... whats that gunna run me ??

but most of all i need to know why those 2 lights are coming on together. fuk i need to get this shit fixxed.
any help is much appriciated

Well if your traction control isn't working, the trac light is going to come on. It could be a number of problems. I was refering to the problem with it running rich with the pressure regulator. The brake light is probably coming because it's either secondary, being the same problem the traction control light is on or there is a problem with the sensor with the emergency brake, also might be the reason your traction control isn't working. This is just an idea that came to my mind with your problem, but I'm sure it will give you something to work with.

Let me know.
