4wd

I am having an issue with my 4WD as I wrote in a prior thread.

I don’t know much about 4WD but I put the truck up and ran it of the ground on 4 Jack stands in 4WD low. I put it in drive and stepped out to let the wheels spin while I check. I applied pressure with my hands to stop each wheel from turning to try to narrow my problem and find its source.

When I try to drive in 4WD it does not engage properly and makes a clunking noise. As if a gear (or something) is trying to match with another but it’s not able to.

When I held the Front passenger side tire it made the same noise (but quieter since the rpms were idling @ 800 or something. (Not sure)

This wheel was also the least eager to move. It tended to not move at all, while the other 3 wheels would gladly.

I am wondering about the front differential or the passenger side front drive shaft (or CV shaft or what ever it is called)

The 4WD Hub's appears to be in good shape for both front wheels, as do the teeth that they mate with. (Attach to)


I would appreciate any regarding this. I live in Northern Canada and due to this it would be a godsend for me to get the 4WD working for winter.
