I have a 97 sl2. The problem is when I goto start the car it beins but wont start. I sometimes have to turn the key, let it try to run turn back the kley and then try again. Its like it gets some fuel and power but not enough to turn over.
The Battery is good. Any ideas? Someone said it could be the fuel pump and that is a 400 dollar job. Coul dit be a starter

it will start on the second try right? the 97 year had a large number of bad fuel pumps, or maybe thats how they where design, i don't know, ether way i wouldn't want one. when the car is running the pump acts normal, but after the car is shut off the pump should not let the fuel in the rail flow back to the tank, it should keep a small amount of pressure in the fuel rail. the 97 pumps don't, they let the fuel leak back to the tank, causing very low fuel pressure for the first second or two of start-up. the easy way to solve this is to turn the key on, wait a few seconds for the fuel pump to prime the system and build pressure back up, then start.
