okay, so i bought a used sl1 1994 like 2 months ago. Ive been having alot of mechanical probs with it, and its pissing me off, anyway i finnaly deceided to put a cd player in the radios spot cause the radio/tape player wasent werking anyway. So i take the original radio out and figured right away why it wasent werking. Theres a blue and black plug thats in the back of the radio, and the wires were mostly ripped out of the pins so basicly its all fucked... im guessing to install the cd player ill have to find wich wires are what cause the colors arent the same. my question is : what do the colors represent in the saturn? does anyone know? and also, my cd player is standard size, saturns radio is huge, so its gonna leave a hole in the dash after installement, is there anyway i could patch this up? thx in advance.

first off..go to autozone and pick up a wiring harness and an installation kit for GM cars in the audio section of the store. The wiring harness is designed to plug right into the stock setup and then the wires are color matched and labeled to match the cd players. The installation kit is simple to install...if you follow the instructions. That will clear up the 'gap' that you would have.

yeh i know how that works but the problem is, the plug from the saturn, that wire harness would plug into was ripped off, so all i have in my saturn is a bunch of wires, but to help off, i picked up the colors
-Orange
-2x brown (usually there is one with a stripe or sumthing to differ but not in this case both of them are exactly the same)
-turquoise
-gray or white x 2
-lime green
-beige
-big black one (probably the power)
-navy blue
-sky blue
-yellow x 2
-antenna

The colored wires for cd players should be the same in most cars (blue is system remote, red is positive, green/green black is speakers, same with purple/purple black, etc.) but get an original saturn harness from ebay or something and wire the according colors, then get the adapter to hook up to the cd player.

If the wires aren't the same as the ones on the OEM harness (and from looking at the colored wire names you gave they're not) then the wires must have been changed. Trace every one to see where they go. the black is probably the power. The yellow and gray or white are most likely the speaker (one + one -) if they have a black stripe or something to differentiate one from another. If not the brown could be speaker too. That definitely sounds like a fucked up kind of setup. For a car stereo, the wires include one power, one negative, one ground, four made of two colores for speaker, a system remote wire (only used if you have an external amplifier or an already powered sub) and can't remember if there are any more. Im just thinking from the top of my head, i haven't installed a stereo in a car in a while but im pretty sure i got most of it. If im wrong someone will correct me.
