I have a 98 sl and when i first got it i put Plus fuel in it(the 2nd one) and now i am starting to put Premium. I really don't feel a difference in anything when it has the premium fuel in it but i feel its a whole lot better for my engine. Just wondering which types of gas you guys put in your car and if it is really a lot better to put premium instead of plus in our cars.

well premium burns hotter so it burns more efficently, and I think just about every1 in here uses premium, there's a thread about this I think, do a search and it'll turn up :)

i put premium only in my car. I swear that the gas lasts longer than the crappy other gas.

Octane doesn't add power...it is a common misconception.

This is the same discussion we had in the Integra forum, half the people are putting in 91 or 93 in their integras and just wasting money. Higher octane(if it isn't needed) is worthless and can actually be detrimental to a car's performance. Stick to what the manufacturer recommmends.
Higher octane is only htere to retard 'knock'. This will only be a problem with high compression ratios or forced induction.
That being said, with a vr4 you need at least 91 octane. And I think, but am not positive that mitsu suggested the same for the SL and base as well.

I put 92.5 in my car, and when I go home to my hometown on the weekends, their gas station has 93.

I'm a base and I only put premium in my car. It says so on the speedo and the gas tank lid. I know it can't be bad for the car, and I only wanna treat my baby right!

My dad mistakenly put a full tank of regular in my car once, didn't sound bad but it was a little different. Can you usually tell if its knocking?

I used to go between regular and plus on my other cars and when I used regular, it felt "heavy" when I accelerated but when I used plus, it felt "lighter." So yeah, I dunno but I'm assuming it's somewhat better. With that said, I use premium all the time for Boo.

and now that i work at a jiffy lube and understand oils better, i put 5-50 5-40 synthetic in my car instead of 20-50.

A TT will work "fine" with 87 octane. Wont be as fast as if you put 93 in there, but it will work. The reason behind this isnt that the 93 adds the powr, but the ECU has different timing (and maybe fuel)maps for premium gas and for regular. Its based off the knock sensor, and the premium maps run higher timing. More timing = More power.

Its all about how hard it can be compressed before combusting through the pressure alone (very bad, gas engines aren't suposed to do that!)

I wouldnt run lower than 93 in the car all the time. Higher if your pushing your turbos to their limits or getting knock with the amount of boost you push.
