The real Boss Hoss is the latest Year One creation. Here's a pic from Popular Hotrodding Magazine's website:
http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0411phr_ford_11_z.jpg
I'm basing mine on a vintage 1966 AMT annual. This body is the one I have had for 2 years. I purchased a BU from evilbay that I have dismantled and stripped. This body has a bent A-pillar that should be an easy straighten. The emblems have already been shaved on this vintage styrene, so I can save the other one for future use.
http://images7.fotki.com/v122/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00176-vi.jpg?1099888956
The rims are Pegasus Helas. The fronts are 19's that have been narrowed to fit Revell tuner rubber bands. The rears are the new 23" Peggies. They fit just fine with a little fender massaging. Still need to get a resin teardrop hood and some more CF decals.
http://images7.fotki.com/v121/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00178-vi.jpg?1099888992
I think Tamiya Brilliant Blue will be a close match to the 2004 Mach I Azure Blue. The body will get the rear spoiler from the AMT 1967 Shelby GT-350. The engine may come from the AMT Phantom Vicky or I might have to get a Revell Ford Lightning for the supercharged motor to match the 1:1 version.
Emjoy!!! Marc

I love all of the pro-touring muscle going on here. Are all of the kits you build, old (vintage) kits? Where do you find them or have you had them? I try to buy as many kits as I can as they come out because I know one day they will be discontinued and I will want to build one. As a general rule I usually buy at least one extra kit, so every model I have built I have another kit in the box w/ plastic.

Well....the rear wheels and tires do clear the leaf springs. Since I'm using the vintage "metal axle" all detail molded in chassis you can take some liberties :evillol: . However, no leaf spring detail was lost in the massaging of the chassis plate. I'll take some pics of the underside and post later for proof!!! :grinyes:

Most of the kits I build are either old vintage kits or reissues of old vintage kits. I wish I could say that I have had them stored away for years, but the reality is that I have purchased most of them from Ebay over the past 4-5 years for the sole purpose of building them. :grinyes:
Some of them I have paid pretty :2cents: 's for, this Mustang included. I built hundreds of them as a kid in the 1960's and 1970's, so it's partly a nostalgic reminder of the simple time of my youth. Also, some of these kits are no longer available new, so it is your only choice. My White and Orange Vega in my sig was an old built up model that I purchased from ebay for $30 and restored it to its present condition. I recently paid $35 for another AMT 1965 Mustang fastback built up that will either be resold or used for another build.

I'm not worthy!!!! Skills...well they keep improving with every model I build. I built my first model over 35 years ago :lol2: but started building again about 10 years ago and got serious about 5 years ago.
Knowledge...I am a walking encyclopedia when it comes to cars and one of my employees refers to me as a "graduate from the college of obscure knowledge".
Balls...I know some girls that can build circles around any male modeler!!! Or are you referring to the fact that I have the nads to cut up 30-40 year old models!!!
Thanks for the comments...Marc

It's got nothing to do with gender, 99civichic and Nismo400R are fantastic bulders; it's that you have the cajones to cut up an old kit... I am afraid to cut a model that's in production and $12. But I guess, the greater the risk, the great the payoff, eh?

Exhaust is molded in too. At least it has duals
If I were to use a modern chassis I would use the one from the AMT 1967 Mustang GT. It fits with minor mods so I'm told. It's easier to nail the stance with the old chassis and I would rather spend my time modding the body and such to get the "look"!!!

The following pics may be disturbing to those that do not believe in hacking up old vintage annual kits as I have began cutting up a virgin AMT 1966 Mustang 2+2. :eek2: :crying: :nono: :screwy:
Project Boss Hoss is getting a new tail, I mean, rear spoiler. Here's a pic of the 1:1
http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0411phr_ford_01_z.jpg
I also sacrificed the tail of an AMT 1968 Shelby GT500 for Boss Hoss. I failed to take a pic before I attached the end piece of the Shelby unit but you would have seen some major surgery on the '66.
http://images7.fotki.com/v122/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00181-vi.jpg?1100061514
The center piece is attached with white glue for the pics. I still have to carve out the left quarter panel and do some minor mods to the center section, then break out the Ambroid Pro Weld and Evercoat filler!!!
http://images7.fotki.com/v121/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00180-vi.jpg?1100061498
Should look like the 1:1 when I get finished. This is one of the elements of building models I get the most enjoyment out of...translating my mental visions to a work of art.
Enjoy!!!

Well....that's one I've been wanting to do for a long time but it keeps getting pushed back when I get new ideas like this Mustang. But when I do build a Chevelle, here is what I will use:
http://images5.fotki.com/v88/photos/2/224343/1076198/DSC00005-vi.jpg

Maybe sometime in 2005 after I finish the Mustang, Trans Am and Cuda.

Assembled most of the 4.6 Cammer engine from the AMT Phantom Vicky for test fitting in the Mustang engine bay. I used Microscale Krystal Klear for the test assembly.
http://images7.fotki.com/v126/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00185-vi.jpg?1100319678
I reverse engineered the transmission to fit the chassis by removing the tailshaft, blocking off the opening with .010 sheet styrene and adding a small strip to fit the trans mount that is molded into the chassis plate, just like the original kit engine. No "hole thru the oil pan" on the Cammer because I will not be using the metal axle in the front. The shorty headers came from the AMT 1988 Mustang GT and fit like they came with the engine.
http://images7.fotki.com/v126/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00188-vi.jpg?1100320646
The underside will look fine once I scribe around the molded in detail and paint, especially for a shelf model.
http://images7.fotki.com/v126/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00186-vi.jpg?1100319691
This is all for the engine work until the resin teardrop hood arrives from PSF Hobbies. Need to make sure the EFI intake and air filter assembly that is not attached have plenty of room under the hood.

You might try making a MII front end on it because mustangs didn`t have them kind of fender wells . But wether you do it or not it will look great.

Sure it's a wire axle chassis, but it needed a little help. Actually, I needed room for the dual exhaust outlets that are yet to be fabricated.
I removed the molded in gas tank and rear muffler and exhaust. The resulting hole in the chassis plate was filled with a patch panel made from the rear floor pan from an AMT '88 Mustang GT. The gas tank was narrowed slightly to make plenty of room. The rear valance pan will be radiused slightly for exhaust clearance.
Here's a pic:
http://images8.fotki.com/v127/photos/2/224343/1500165/DSC00001-vi.jpg?1100578937
Compare this pic to the stock chassis from the AMT 1966 Mustang and you will see some improvement. Some will say I should have modified the infinitely more detailed chassis from the modern tool AMT '67 Mustang, but it wouldn't be my style. I like old school models built with new school attitude!!!!

Here's some pics of my latest modifications to make my AMT '66 Mustang Fastback look like the one Year One built this year. The engine in the 1:1 is supercharged. The AMT Phantom Vicky motor is not, but I'm slowly making it look like the real one.

I relocated the throttle body to the rear of the intake and placed an air cleaner from an AMT Torino Talladega on top.

I have an air cleaner from an AMT 1968 Shelby GT500 that has the Cobra logo but is a little small. I'm gonna work with it some more to see if I can get it to fit.
I got a resin teardrop hood from PSF Hobbies. I have opened up the rear opening of the scoop. They will be filled with photoetch honeycomb grill material.

Getting lots of little details completed on the 'Stang. Starting with the interior, I removed the center console to duplicate the look of the 1:1 car. If any of you have never worked on 40 year old styrene it sure is hard!!! None of this soft stuff like the new AMT kits. Here's a pic of the 1:1's interior:

The interior bucket on the right is from the current edition of the '66 hardtop. I still have a little finishing work on the tunnel near the firewall.

The seats are from the AMT '88 Mustang GT with the headrests removed. The gauges have been drilled from the instrument panel and will be filled with photoreduced Auto Meter gauges.

Front end mods are subtle but significant. The bumper has been smoothed, lower valance panel opened and license plate removed. A new grill surround was scratchbuilt with .020 Evergreen. Driving lights mocked up since I solved the mounting issue. Turn signals have been drilled out and replaced with MV Lenses. They will be tinted orange to match the 1:1.

The inside of the grill opening has been modified to accept Model Car Garage photoetch grill. The original is on the left.
