The Pegasus Hela's that I am using are the closest I can find to match those on the 1:1.

If you are aware of anything else that is a closer match I'm all ears.

Marc, that's what I class as service.....great stuff !!
I tried that once myself, but did no good. I guess besause it was a rare car in a "private" collection, the guy wasn't too keen......

By the way, it's all your fault, for me taking an interest in this style of old/new motoring trend....I mean that in the BEST possible way Marc...
Since seeing your earlier posts here and HHMB, I've been hooked. I have a couple coming up soon........stay tuned.

You have some serious skills, man, I love your updates. Always very precise construction and I have incredible respect for that. Anyone can build wild customs, it takes true skill and and truly descerning eye to make something so spectacular with just heaps of subtle mods. I bet 90% of the people that see your models without seeing the buildup think, "Wow, that's so cool, I wonder what kit that is?" or "Wow, there's something different about this car but I can't quite tell what he did and what came that way...."

Just incredible work. I watch impatiently for each of your update. Magnificent. You're one of my top 5 here.

No...I'm not worthy!!!

Seriously, thanks for the comments and praise. But there are much better model builders on AF than me. I just build for myself. If someone else likes it or gets inspired by something I do it's a bonus.

It is a lot of work to take one of these old school kits and make it into a work of art. Most folks would not know the difference. At least there are people here that do.

Back to the bench....Marc

Not satisfied with opening up the gauges in the stock instrument panel, I found a Detail Master photoetch street rod gauge set with the tach would fit within the confines of the Mustang gauge cluster. So out came the stock gauge cluster, and a replacement was scratchbuilt using the photoetch panel as a template for the gauges. The photoetch rings were attached to the new gauge cluste. The printed gauges will install from behind.

Here's the pic of the 1:1 car's instrument panel:

Man, your project is awesome. I am anxious for updatings. I am a great fan of 60's Mustangs and I am about to begin a similar project: FastFoward FastBack Mustang by Troy Trepanier. I saw this car in the Rides Show (Discovery Channel) and I am getting ready to begin the project. The only thing that lacks is the wheels. Aoshima provides exactly the same wheels on 1:24. Well, congratulations, your are outstanding!

Here are some pics of the roll bar. The main hoop is from the AMT Mustang hardtop kit. The down bars are Evergreen tube with floral wire insert. The 1:1 has a six point cage with the front bars down near the rocker panels. Might not do these since they will not show.

And no, it has not been welded yet!!!

And here's the first sign of color...Tamiya Brilliant Blue TS-44. It's a close enough match to the 2004 Mach I Azure Blue. It did not photograph too well under the flouresent lighting of my bench. Tomorrow I will mask off the blue and spray the pad with Tamiya Matt Black, then I will apply BMF Matt Aluminum to finish it off.

Here's the seats in the 1:1, they are from an late 80s Mustang GT.
http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0411phr_ford_12_z.jpg

I used the optional Recaro seats from the AMT '88 Mustang GT kit sans headrests. Paint is Tamiya Brilliant Blue TS-44, overcoated with Testors Dullcote thinned with Gunze thinner. Then I masked the centers with Tamiya masking tape and applied two coats of Tamiya Matt Black spray.

The rest of the interior is still at the upholstery shop. It should be finished later this week.

Any updates?

Sorry, no updates on this one. Been working hard on the Cuda since mid-December when the last update was posted.

Watch for updates on the Cuda. As soon as I get the Cuda finished, i'll be back on the Mustang.

Thanks for asking!
