when i go to start my car it seems like it wants to die...i crank the key and it makes a kind of grinding noise. It starts...but barely...i replaced the battery and alternator about 2 months ago and the starter about 1 month ago...what could this be? Could it be the positive battery cable? OR WHAT??

when did this start?(with the new starter?, with the new battery?, grounding kit? before?) did any of those things help?

do you have a multimeter?

it started about 2 days ago....which was 2 weeks after the grounding kit...3 months after the alternator and battery...and 2 months after the new starter. I looked at the positive battery cable going to the starter and it was fine. I went to my local checker auto parts and the guy said that the starter and everything else was putting out the correct amount of volts...and he even said that the grinding noise when i started it was weird and that it probably WAS the starter.

No i do not have a multimeter

if you had a multimeter, i would say check the voltages that the shop already did.

i'm leaning toward the starter myself, if you swaped the starter your self, did you inspect the flywheel and starter gear teeth? i would get under the car and check the torque on the starter mounting bolts. if that doesn't work, take the clutch inspection plate off and check the flywheel teeth.

its a thin peice of medal covering the bottom of the bellhouseing facing the engine(so i'm told, only learned of it a few weeks ago, haven't seen it myself yet) i'm guessing its a few 10mm bolts

it turns out the starter had bad brissels. The guy at auto zone tested it and when he turned the switch on it nearly jumped off the table. Good thing i got the warrenty huh? Thanks sierrap615
