Hi guys,

CHECK ENGINE AND ETS OFF of my 4cyl skylark came on at the same time, but it runs good. I went to Autozone to get the error code:

P0342 the voltage signal from camshaft position sensor "A" is two low for the current engine operating conditions.

P0440 a malfunction exists in the evaporative emission controsystem.

Are these two errors associated with each other? What should I do next?
Thank you very much!

I have the same problem w/ a 96 w/ a 2.4l engine. It happened a while ago and lasted about a week. Now it is staying on. Abs & Ets Off

My wife's car is a 98 Skylark with 135K mi - has similar problems - check engine light would come on often with codes that made no sense. Then seat belt ligfht would come on and stay on, now just about all lights (oil, air bag etc) are on - but oil is fine others things are fine, car drives well.

Other problem is when it rains car leaks water into trunk and into main cabin that accumulates under foot pedals. We dont see the leak but it accumulates over time. My wife bumped into another SKylark owner on the street who reported the same problems.
Seems the last few years of Skylark had some issues.

Perhaps the leaks are shorting something in the circuitry and causing all the lights to light?

Meanwhile my 91 LeSabre (131K mi) and my aunt's 92 LeSabre (42K mi) are going strong.

Anyone have any idea on the leaks? Anyone been through this and solve it?

This link (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=334497) may help. I have the same problem, but I can't find the leak. I'm thinking mine might be a vent or duct problem. :banghead:

Had the same problem on my 97 skylark and believe it or not it was because the gas cap was not on tight. Figured this out when I went to Autozone. Put the cap on till it clicked a couple of times and the lights went out. Hope this helps. :p
