Having a valid opinion on rap music comes from experiencing it. What the hell are you experiencing in New Zealand of all places that makes you musical expert?
I'm sorry, but MTV cribs is not rap music. New Zealand gets TV, yes. But as we all know TV isn't the real world. For somebody to diss rap music (rappers) and be from New Zealand I found to be extremely laughable. As a matter of fact how many black people do you see in a year? What? 3? And I mean full black people, not Piggy.
The same would go if New Zealanders starting calling the "Seattle Sound", Bluegrass, or any other regional music garbage. Just because you get "Behind the Music" doesn't make you an expert. I'm not dissing New Zealand, I'm just saying that when a Kiwi states an opinion of rappers as if its fact, I find it quite humerous and ignorant. Just like I can sit here and say that figure skating is easy and for sissies when I've never even attempted a triple axel. Hell I may be right, but I'd easily be lambasted too. The guy get's up here in AF and says that rappers are overpaid, enfactuated with their penis sizes and should get a real life or something to that effect. Huh? Come again? Do I smell a hater? Some jealousy perhaps? For the most part, these are guys from tough streets and tough circustances who have found a way out of their situation. They rap. It sells. You don't like, don't buy it. Turn the channel. I don't listen to country, but I don't diss it either. And what the hell is this REAL WORLD that the rappers should find? The lush green hills of New Zealand herding sheep and listening to Russell Crowe play at the local tavern? Or realizing that you have 2 kids, no job, no money, a criminal record, yet you are out there busting your ass making music for the "REAL WORLD" people in New Zealand to buy up? Huh? It different strokes for different folks, man and what's the REAL WORLD to you depends on where you see it from.
You can't even attempt to defend a blanket statememt. So again like I said "...last I checked, we didn't have any rappers coming out of New Zealand, have any major hip-hop publications based out of New Zealand, a record label, a clothing line or even a New Zealand influence observed in the world of rap music..." But we gotta lotta opinions coming outta New Zealand. Just don't expect me to think they are anything but comedy when it comes to rap music. :o
"All up in my the Kool-Aid and ya don't even know the flavor."

well i'm not sure he's alive... and i'm not sure that he's dead.
I'm not all on one side
I just brought this up so people can talk about it

OK this pissed me off. I wasn't go to say anything in this thread, but I've changed my mind.
Do you think just because you live in the US that you are the know-it-all god of fuckin rap music. And that little ol' NZ down here doesn't get shit, and all we get is MTV, get real.
Get over yourself, have you ever heard of the Global Culture. I spent 11 years living in Los Angeles of all places. I know whats going on, I still have friends over there.
And for the record, you may never have heard of any NZ rappers, but Oceania (NZ, Australia, fiji, samoa and the rest) has a huge polynesian hip hop and rap industry. Just because it hasn't appeared in the great "American" music industry doesn't mean it's not good.
And don't be so ignorant that there are no black people here. Just shows how biased and ignorant you are.

This is bullshit.Gang$tarr starts a thread saying Tupac might be alive....a dozen or so people tell him that basically the guy is dead, end of story(including Sham)....then it gets boring and Sham decides to question the right of the people of one country to hold opinions? What an asshole.Since you have elected to prove conclusively that you know sod-all about New Zealand or its music-perhaps you should find a new topic. It's obvious from yous sig that you are a shit stirrer of the highest order...but guess what?.............

LOL! I never said I was a know it all. It has nothing to do with where you are from, it has to do with understanding the music and seeing it all...not the negative aspects that are broadcast on MTV. Perhaps you should read the quote I was talking about?

I'm sorry. I just can't get over myself. I am just so damn handsome it's ridiculous.
Who cares if you lived in LA? My reply wasn't directed at you. I can't help if you are become emotionally attached to replies that have nothing to do with you. And, if you know what's going on and have friends, then good for you. Once again, my reply wasn't directed at you. But then again, I don't need to say that because you already know what's going on. Right? LOL!

Did I ever say somebody wasn't good? Sheesh. This thread is about Tupac. A guy from NZ comes in and says rappers are blah, blah, blah. I replied. So what? Report me to the UN Security Council!! LOL!

Huh? So are you saying there are...or there isn't? You lost me. Biased? Man, listen, if you have issues don't go spreading them throughout because you feel "pissed". LOL! This is pure comedy. A guy from NZ makes an ignorant statement and everybody from NZ suddenly feels they need to validate their country! Haha! And on top of that they don't even attempt to come to his defense, but rather just refute what I have to say in reply to him! LOL! Next thing you know you'll be trying to e-mail me demo tapes or obscure NZ rap acts or tell me how many black friends you have. LOL! Comedy!
The subtext outside of Off-Topic says don't get offended by whats in here and you got offended...so let's make this perfectly clear:
I don't care. :flipa:
I stand by my comments.
PS: I'm through with this. I have no beef with Russell Crowe, sheep, or NZ. Can't anybody on AF disagree with a person from NZ without having the rest of the country jump down his throat?
