GE MegaPlus VS Philips VisionPlus... which one?

Hello,

Right now I’m using Philips premium +30% on my car
('95 Honda civic), and I’d like to get an advice from
you guys.

I’ve got question about GE Megaplus and Philips Vision
plus, which one is brighter, better and more reliable
(has longer life time)?

Since they are coming from different brand, I’m not
sure which one is brighter. Although it's obvious from
the box, GE +60%, Philips +50%

It’s said on autolamps-online.com that these bulbs have
“longer beam”, what does it mean?
Does it mean that the bulb have higher illumination
the make the lights beam longer?, or it’s just simply
“longer”....?. My concern is..., should I re-align my
headlamp after changing my premium +30% with Megaplus
or Vision plus?

Will it be a big differences after I change my premium
+30% with Megaplus or VisionPlus?

and....... last but not least....... WHICH ONE SHOULD
I BUY ???

thanks a lot !!

I've enver heard of either. I'd say get Sylvania SilverStars. Simply put, the BEST and brightest OEM equivalent stock wattage bulb you can buy.

Matt... what about your Piaas!? I've almost fully decided to buy them now. They look so nice on my little brother's ride! And it'll look better on mine, since it'll be shining through projector lenses!

If you don't mind putting out the $$ for the Super Plasma GT-X's, those are the BEST bulb IMO...Speaking of Super Plasma's shining through projecotrs, check out the sticky...I posted a pic of the old super plasma's (not the new Super Plasma GT-X's) shining inside projecotr housings, it'll give you an idea of how it'll look (I have the new super plasma GT-X's coming on Nov 1st, so I'll try and post another pic if it makes a big difference (though I susepct it won't in a pic. The difference between the 2 is the new Super Plasma GT-X's are for the H3's, brighter by around 30%, and with the H4, besides being brighter, they also feature an extreme white high beam.

Really? The H3's are brighter? Perfect! In that case, I'll be getting them for sure. Now my only problem is how will I get my corner bulbs to match? Eckoman, do you know of any incandecent bulbs that match the Super Plasmas?

None do, short of higher wattage bulbs that can create a fire hazard, melt the inside of you're housings and melt the wiring harnesses. You know how that one is Paul... ;)

I swear by the PIAA Super Plasma GT-X bulbs, but I threw SilverStars out there because they are cheaper, and not everyone is willing to spend for PIAA. I'd say they are actually brighter than the SilverStars.

No no, the Super Plasma GT-X H3's are brighter than the old Super Plasmas by around 30%..The old ones had 80 wats of luman output from a 55 watt bulb, the GT-X H3's have 110 watts of luman output from a 55 watt bulb. The H4 GT-x have a 55 watt low and 60 watt high, the luman brightness is eqivaulent to 125 and 135 watts I think. I do suggest you get the H3 super plasmas gt-x's, they are very bright and do look like real HIDS to boot. Best bulb you can buy IMO

Either way, the Super Plasmas are the brighest SAFEST H3 you can buy for your car...thats All I run, and that 1 year warrenty will be nice too. I am not sure of any incandecent bulbs that match, besides, the black signal housings tend give whitish bulbs a yellow look..the yellow lookin bulbs in the pic...those looked pretty white in a regular housing I stuck them in for fun. They are PIAA Extreme White 1157 corner bulbs. Never found an incandecent bulb to match, don't think they exist, lol (at least safely, lol).
.
In case you didn't see it in the sticky, heres how they'll look in projectors (these are the older H3 Super Plasmas, the Super Plasma GT-X's you can get now are even brighter by 30%, as I said. As I said, I sew by the PIAA Super Plasma bulbs (now Super Plasma GT-X). I won't run anything else. They are the brightest bulb I have found, plus they are the closest thing to HIDs you'll have without buying them (which is illegel in some areas like cali).

yeah, I saw them in the sticky... beautiful :)

Acutally, I heard that some LED bulbs will match closely to the plasmas.... but I have no info on it.

Piaa will be releasing a 168 style wedge bulb in the Super Plasma GTX. The part number for the twin pack of these will be 19283, and they should be out in about 4 to 6 weeks. As for other types of bulbs... I'll keep you updated as I hear about it. Isnt this great news!!!!! :D

Hmm, this is good news...where'd u hear about it? Maybe this means they are finally going to release a greater varity of super plasma bulbs. That is always good. The 168 could come in handy for cars that have side markers in front that take that bulb, for example. Now they need to give us 1157 super plasma gt-x bulbs so the turn signa can match, heck let's have 1156, have nice super plasma color reverse lights!!! Hey, it'll still qaulity as "white," LOL...really really white.

Anyways, great great news....keep us posted!!! Where'd you fine out the info from?

As far as I know, they have no plans for releasing a plasma 1156 or 1157 bulbs.... but that doest mean they wont... it must means it might be even a longer wait :/

All I did was email PIAA and ask them :) if you want, you can email them too. If we flood them with emails with request of a plasma 1157 bulb... they might get off their butts and release it sooner! :D [email protected] there might be a better place to email them for better results... but thats where I emailed them. I got it from their website www.piaa.com

Brillen Paul, very smart idea....major props...and how simple too....I call enough manufacturers and bug them about stuff like this, but I never thought to call or email PIAA, probably since they are located in beaverton, oregon...probably a half hour from here. So is that the only one they mentioned for now?

I think you, mean, Matt, and anyone else willing to jump on our quest should email PIAA about 1156 and 1157 Super Plasma GT-X bulb...I know I will...so it's [email protected]'ll have to email them and bug them about it...among other bulbs, LOL...I also want them to release 9005 Super Plasmas over here so I can quite paying out the ass for the ones from Japan...they make those, they just don't sell them here, so you have to have tem "imported"...which is basically buying them from a place that will get them and paying the extra $$. I wonder if they have an 1157 super plasma in japan...hmmm...maybe I'll check into that in the next week or so, see what I can dig up...or course, if they do...just like with the others from Japan, the price will be crazy, LOL...

I like the flood them with emails idea of yours...the more interest they see, the quicker they will make them. I figure we should write them emails bugging them periodically, so they remember the interest for them is out there.

Since I'm going with the JDM look, I can't get in on the GT-X wedge bulb action... :( I could for my city lights, but the guys where I got my PIAAs from were right, the Plasma Ion wedge bulb is by far the best one appearance wise to mate with the GT-X. It gives them this odd but very cool irridescant look to them that HIDs can tend to have, and with the headlights off, they light up the housing bright yellow which is very JDM and pretty cool, also comes in handy in the fog, LOL! I was thinking maybe I'd pick up some more Plasma Ion bulbs for my side markers, they have standard Sylvania OE ambers in them right now. I want new markers altogether. I LOVE the VW Jetta/Golf markers, but I gotta see what kind of drilling to make them fit. I love the JDM clear S2000 markers, but they don't screw in, just clips... =\
