What does the sweet smell mean? It goes away after the car is warmed up.

Next, how do I alleviate wheel hop?

Thanks guys.

The smell is that your car is so sweet.. Actually, I dunno what it could be. Maybe you like the car so much you're just imagining it..

Wheel hop can be fixed with more wheel spin, aftermarket crossmember with traction bars, stiff suspension, better tires, polyurethane motor mounts..

Probably more stuff.

LoL... I wish... I thought it had something to do with coolant or something. My sense of smell is more alert since I've quit smoking cigarettes...

Could be. My girlfriends Sunflower smelled like that when he headgasket was going because you could smell the coolant. Does the temp go up and down when it gets really hot, or is it always consistant?

The temp gauge stays consistent (about half way) once the car warms up and the cold idle drops to normal.

The "sweet smell" is generally attributed to a head gasket, but it could be something different in your case... Heater core? I'm not sure. Maybe it's just you?? :D

I think it only does it when I first crank up the car. Maybe that's it... coolant flowing through system upon start up. I've noticed other cars like that. I guess I'm real sensitive...
I'm not leaking oil. (it was leaking from the dizzy o-ring... common)... but can the headgasket fuck up even if you don't leak oil?

Yes, my 89 didnt loose oil when my headgasket went bad. It burnt oil for others reasons though. I can back that up because after i replaced the headgasket it still burned oil just as fast as it did before. I did loose oil into the cooling system though. But it didnt actually leak from the gasket.

Thanks. I better keep close tabs on my oil. I know that I burn a tiny amount over time, especially when I redline so I try not to do that too often.
