OK...for the purpose of keeping things interesting, I will attempt to name cars which noone else has mentioned yet...I too love the obvious classics like the stunning 250 GTO, Muira, Gullwing, etc. But let me throw a few affordable curve balls into the mix, as well as some gorgeous metal I haven't seen listed yet:
Volvo P1800 Coupe
Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
Toyota 2000GT
Jaguar E-Type
Mercedes SSK Roadster
Talbot Lago Atlantique
Maserati 5000GT Touring
BMW 507
Studebaker Hawk
67 Oldsmobile Toronado
71 Renault Alpine A110
I don't think I repeated any picks so far!

[kicking self in ass] Sorry! [/kicking self in ass]
I noticed after I posted, in reading more carefully, your references to the E-type and 507. Hey...you have good taste!
I tried for diversity at least though...some of the cars I could get for $10K or less..others might run a cool $1 million or more.

Did anybody make mention of the Toyota Sports 800?, or the Honda S600 or S800?
What about the Prince Gloria?, or the Prince Skyline Sport of 1961?
Or the Datsun DC-3? Mazda R360 coupe? or Cosmo sport?

I go every year to drool over the beautiful Ferraris and Alfas on display...some of which are one of only 3 or 4 in the World of certain types.
I take alot of pictures there...I have 250 GTOs, 250 Californias, 265 GTBs, 365 GTBs, Dinos, 308s, Daytonas, F40s, F50s, and even the new Enzo which was there this year!
The GTO is definately gorgeous!!

1969 BOSS 429 Mustang in Black
Fastest mustang ever built until recently in the late 90's.
Yes faster than a GT 500 with a better sound cuz the 429 was a HEMI!
Rated at 375 HP, actual output was closer to 425 at the wheels!
Also I wouldn't mind a 1970 HEMI Dodge Challenger. They were faster than the BOSS 429.

Yup it does, but mustangs were so light anyway you would get better traction with the heavier one. And the 428 CJ was rated generously at 335 HP, and like I said before the 429 was an way underated 375. BOSS 429's also had suspension upgrades which helped put the power to the ground.

Ratings don't matter. In '70, the 429 Cobra Jet was reated at 375 hp. The 429 Super Cobra Jet was rated at 375 hp. And the BOSS 429 was rated at 375 hp. None of them made only 375 hp. ;)

No, the 428 Cobra Jet was a 428 cid engine. The 429 Cobra Jet was a 429 cid engine. Two different engine families.
The 428 Cobra Jet and 428 Super Cobra Jet were primarily available in the '69 and '70 Mach 1, and '69 Torino GT and Cobra models. The 429 Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet was available in the '70 and '71 Torino GT and Cobra models, and in the '71 and '72 Mustangs. The BOSS 429 was only installed in the '70 BOSS 429 Mustang, but was listed as an option in the '70 Torino Cobra (which is the car Ford actually put it in to go NASCAR racing).
As the past owner of 3 '70 Mustangs (A Sports Roof, a BOSS 302 and Mach 1), a '71 Torino GT w/429CJ, and having done restorations on more of them, and having been around at that time, I have a bit of a clue as to what was available.

Not saying you don't know about them but the only 429 cid engine in 1970 was the boss 429. In 1971, ford dropped the 428 cobra jet and super cobra jet and instead had two 429 cid engines, both were cobra jets, there was no super cobra jet. A third cobra jet was available after May of 71, when ford basically decided to call their 351 cid with the 4bbl. carb a cobra jet.

Try telling that to someone that owns a 69 BOSS 429. The BOSS 429 Mustang was made from 69-70. 69 is actually more famous. 69 has a mechanical cam, 70 has hydraulic. They were both rated at 375 HP @5200, and 450 Ft/lbs@3400.
IMO 69's look better, mostly because of the headlights. 69 kept the headlights on the far outside, 70 only had the headlights in the inside and put some kind of molding where the headlights were on a 69.
I've included a pic of a 69, which if you had a 70 you can tell very plainly the headlights are different.
Also here is the web address, this is for sale:

I've included a pic of a 69, which if you had a 70 you can tell very plainly the headlights are different.
The BOSS 429 was only installed in the '70 BOSS 429 Mustang,
Try telling that to someone that owns a 69 BOSS 429.

My bad, I went back to correct some spellings and delete reference to the '71 BOSS 351, and accidentally erased both years, and being in a hurry only replaced the '70. It was supposed to have both years.

A third cobra jet was available after May of 71, when ford basically decided to call their 351 cid with the 4bbl. carb a cobra jet.
The only 429 engine in the Mustang was the BOSS 429. There was never a 428 engine in the '70 Torino. The 429 Cobra Jets were installed in the Torino GT and Torino Cobra. Super Cobra Jets were Cobra Jet cars ordered with the "drag pack" option. SCJ engines had 4 bolt mains, forged pistons, larger carb, oil cooler, and solid lifter cam.

Here's a'70 Torino Brochure. Note the listing of the BOSS 429 being available in teh Torino Cobra (though I don't know of any that actually had them factory installed for street use)

You twit. I already MENTIONED the 429s in THOSE Mustangs. Look one page back!
We were talking about PAST EFFIN' CARS, not just Mustangs, in the whole effin' thread! You commented on BOSS 429 factory ratings, and I commented about how Ford factory HP ratings in 1970 were not useful, as Ford listed similar ratings for a number of different 429 engines!!!! You then said that the 429 CJ was a 428. We weren't TALKING JUST Mustangs at that point! Damnit!
Jesus. Kids these days!
