Static on the radio Am

Radio has lots of static on AM think I need a capacitor. Not sure where to locate it. I have the standard radio with AM FM1 FM2 and tape player.Think the capacitor is bad or missing. I have a 97 Windstar. Help!!!Difficult to listen to talk radio.

I have the same problem on my 95 Ranger. I have replaced plug wires but it did not help. AM Radio is almost un-usable at this point.
Anyone have any ideas on what may cause this?

this might sound dumb but back when the winstars were still new, there was a recal for radio noise the cure for us was too remove the rear hanger bushings and coat them with dielectricgrease and re-install them. it sounds dumb but hey thats what they told us to do.( i dont work at ford anylonger and wasnt there long either)

My dad's car had lousy AM reception. He took it into a shop, and all they did was remove the antenna and clean it....now it works fine.
