Looking for a little insight. I don't know if it is a stud or bolt.
One of the mounting points for the streeing pump is broken and setting the belt isn't possible.
It's a very tight spot to work in, is there a trick or should I pull the motor?
Any help is appreciated :)

Could you please ask you friend if the power steering pump is bolted on or sitting on studs. The car is question has a bolt in the top hole and appears to have a broken bolt/stud in the bottom hole.
also ask him what is harder;
pulling the motor,
pulling the front quarter panel (if it's possible)
Thanks for your time Sir. :)

i sent him the link here and he is double checking his engine(in peices right now) he pulled his, said the steering pump clearance was the hardest part(he couldn't get the pulley off so he left the pump in the car). to remove the plastic quarter panel is easy, its just a ton of push-pins, i don't know what if any extra room that would give you, removing the frame rails inside the quarter panel is not possible.

here is his account of engine removal and rebuild:

his reply to me:

Here's the pic of the P/S pump...

There are several bolts, and two different brackets. One of the brackets can be seen here still attached. The other bracket was removed during the engine pull. (I couldn't get to the other one to remove it before pulling the engine.)

Hey thankx for all the help,
The last link of the pictures didn't work
but I am REAL familiar with the pump now. :)
I am making a tool for that one troublesome bolt between the manifold.
I am thinking of using a plasma cutter to open an access area in order to remove the broken bolt.
With the wheel and strut out of the way I might do well.
The car was a freebee, so fixing it is kind of fun :)
