hey i traced oil back to my head...brand new on on my d16a6 motor and i wondering if the z6 head gsket could be causing this?....seem like its leaking on front left and right side of head...possible to leak oil there by drain wholes without colant getting in the mixture?

I would of put the stock head gasket on in the 1st place,
but I have heard around these forums that with a Z6 head gasket it gives more compression or somthing,so I would of probably went for it too!
but that z6 head gasket really dont go to that motor,
that may be your problem,
but also,on your #3 cylinder leaking oil?
thats either a burnt valve or a oil piston ring burnt AKA blowby,
the best thing to do would be to do a compression check on it,
I had an oil leak in my #1 cylinder, changed my valve cover gasket, new gromets....& it still leaked,it soon ended up leaking out my air intake,
I done a compression check,it was my #1 cylinder,piston ring,
but the guy who done it said it could of also been a burnt valve,
(but in your case, you have a different head gasket,so it could be just that,)!!
but its kind of weird that its just leaking in the #3 cylinder

He said #3 spark plug grommet is leaking, not valve.

if the head is new and you're 100% sure you torqued it down correctly, then either one of three things is the culprit...
1. you *didnt* torque the head bolts down correctly
or..
2. your block needs decked. MLS head gaskets are far superior than their composite cousins, but they are a lot more picky about non-true surfaces...
or..
3. you didnt get all of the gasket material off of the block before installing the new gasket

I used a z6 head gasket on my 89 hatch. Worked great with no problems at all. I'm sure it would still be running if I didnt crash the car.
I saw the z6 is much better than the OEM composite crap gasket. And If you ever blow it again, you won't spend 3 hours with a razor blade and a can of carb cleaner.

well i probably be going back to stock head gasket so i know its not the gasket if still leaks....and also cylinder 3 they all have close to same but this cylionder is a little higher do to oil being in it....so cant be the rings i dont think...there brand new and i place them in the right sequence....i guess i can retorque my head see what happens far as head leaking...but for cylionder three leaking i cna see it coming from groment when i dry it out...can see an oil line coming frome groment then just collecting at bottum of spark plug....i cant stand this motor giving me a head ache from day one
