I 've had my 2001 saturn 4 a year now 44,000 miles. I thought it was running good untill i started it up after not driving it for 3 days. It was shaking, it felt like it was going to die and there was some thing burning not sure what. All this the day after the warrenty ended. This was not the only time. Not only that if Im stoping but dont stop all of the way and then hit the gas it feels like the car jumps into gear. i still have alot of payments and hope nothing is wrong. If anyone knows any thing feel free to let me know.

auto i assume?

could you call this 'jump' more like a slam?
does it slam in to reverse?
when exactly was it shaking?(park/gear/RPM/moving/ect)
what is idle RPM?
check oil, coolent and transmission fluid levels

if it slams only into reverse, this may help -

if it slams into all gears, it may be a loose input shaft nut, dealer only repair, to the tune of $700 i'm told.

i would also check all 4 engine/trans mounts, the idle is alittle harder to say. is this a SOHC or DOHC?

i think it is dohc. do u know why it is shaking when i first start it while in park.

if the 8th digit of the VIN is 7, its a DOHC, if its 8, it SOHC. the VIN is on the lower driver's side of the windshield.

i'm thinking the shaking has to do with a bad motor mount.

well the SOHCs did tend to have a vacuum leak from the manifold gasket. i would buy some sensor-safe carb and choke cleaner. spray the throttle body and IAC, then maybe take the EGR off and clean it too, if that doesn't help then you may have a vacuum leak somewhere else.
