the last version was getting a little long and now we have so many more new members.

quick rundown: we aren't supposed to have a thread like this. there is a coffee break section for that BUT if we keep it bike related we may get to keep it. any quick bike questions or statements that are minor can find a home here.

hey Z, hows the weather now. did you cop another twister lately?

Z_Fanatic
10-02-2004, 04:53 AM
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that I haven't told you guys. I typed up a somewhat detailed report about it, but can't find it right now. Will post it when I do. Would you believe this was a terrific year for us Floridians? Particularly us who were burned... TWICE, hehe. Not only Hurricane Frances decided sit on top of parents' store, but Hurricane Jeanne dropped by as well. We're like the hot spots for decent weather. :)

4 Hurricanes in 2 months, it must be the Presidential election. lol.

MagicRat
10-02-2004, 11:35 PM
I invite you to come to Canada and enjoy 5 months of winter. At least a hurricane is over in a couple of days, although it may ventilate your house a bit.

Last winter we had 8 weeks of sub-freezing temperatures. It did not even get above freezing in the daytime.

If someone threw up on my lawn on Christmas, it was still there in March.
And that kind of weather makes a mess of motorcycling.

Please... feel free to come down here, inspect it for yourself, and reiterate those words to those who lost their homes and businesses. The weather is still shitty in some of the areas, and it rains every other mile. Yeah, it definitely isn't bad as throwing snowballs around. My apology in advance for being a little insensitive here.

.................................

on a lighter note...
blayne i remember you saying a while back not to take off a riders helmet if he's gone down... i was actually told (by a reliable source [first-aid know-it-all]) that eventually its going to have to come off and if the case is his brains are going to fall out, theres no way of stopping that... unless his going to wear the helmet for the rest of his life....

she then proceeded to show me what happens when you take the 'trendy' path and wear open-faced helmets..... let me tell you newbies right now...

WEAR A FULL F@$KING HELMET! ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT

plus, open faced look shite anyway ;)

Well if the person still has a pulse until he/she reaches hospital, there's still a chance that doctors at ER will know what to do to keep the white stuff in. I.E. drill a hole in the bucket and use plasters, hehe. There's been cases when the brain matter took a little excursion out of the skull or through the nose, and the person still surived to live a relatively normal life. Just hope you have a mountain of money to swim in sea of medications for the symptoms and atrophies.

hey i got a question for all the aussies here, the yanks keep mentioning the motorcycle safety course that comes highly recomemded for newbies.

is there a similar course run here in oz?

aussieidiot
10-05-2004, 05:28 PM
in NSW we have to do two courses run by Stay Upright just to get our licence which i assume are similar course

as for helmets being removed. i'd like to leave it for someone who knows what to do properly, rather than get a lawsuit. i used to be a first aider but know i don't want to be because legally you have to help or cop a fine and possible jail term. worse if you fuck up

hey, uh if water was to mix with petroleum heterogeneously inside the gas tank, and if you were to start the bike up, give it some choke on the throttle to warm it up, and it dies after a while, is there any way to recover the engine/bike?

1: in Victoria we have a program from honda that not only gets you your licence but offers advanced riding courses :)

2: blayne, unless the laws over there are different, thats utter bs :) .. the only time you can be fined or cop a jail term is when you attempt to assist the person, and your hazy on your first-aid skills and fuck up, or if you assist the person, and then walk off midway through....

a girl can collapse across the road and you can pretend you never saw a thing, and keep walkin... sad, but true..

easiest way to get water out is to add sugar isn't it. mmmmm or is it mayonaise. no no its bubble gum. yes that's it add bubble gum!

on a more serious note, i did my St John 1st aid cert for work and during the course they told us that we have to legally own up to being a first aider and if later found to have been negligent then the patient has a right for compensation. fuck that. if i don't own up- screwed and if i do it wrong- screwed. :banghead:

R-1 rider probably knows more about it, but I don't think they officially exported too many Yamaha R7 to the US. For starters, I never found one in the ads. Most are found in the Asian countries I believe. They always get the nice toys first. Go figure. It's a track (not just twisities) dominating bike, able to keep up/beat 1000rr's. Won numerous competitions. Last ones they produced were in '02. Looking at the tail section, I think it was more or less solely made for the track enthusiasts.

I just love the lines in this bike, the only other bike that comes close to resemble is the previous generation R6 with its dual bulbous headlights, deltabox II, 37mm carbs w/TPS, and similar paint scheme.

Never heard of the R7? Come on, seriously? This is probably one of the most rarest modern bike on the planet. Only 500 were built in 1999, which most of them were used for racing teams from all over the world. To find an untouched R7 will probably be just as rare too. Brief history of the R7 and other 750s. Throughout the 90's, any bike that was a 750 was something to lust over. The Japanese manufacturers pulled out all of the stops to beat Ducati in Superbike racing, and in doing so made the 750s cutting edge. The YZF-R7 was cream of the crop and nothing could touch back in 1999. Noriyuki Haga's 1999 R7 produced a healthy 163 horses but the stock version had around 107 or so horses. Today's 600cc bikes could out run it. But the R7 was produced that way so customers could tamper with the bike and increase it's ability to the rider's liking. A derestricted R7 can be making out anywhere from 120 to 140 horses easily. From what I hear, the R7 isn't all about powering through straights but all about corner speeds. Definitely a race bike.

Haha, look at Lyndon's avatar, that bike is an eye sore. Besides, what can I do, MV decided to keep the design same for '04 1000 F4. I'd probably get a gixxer 2001/2004 600 for next bike. Can't imagine myself in a HONDUH! hehe. Btw, do you think you can you kick ass with that Blade in the twisties against 1000RR?

but the ninja is definately a valid option...

Z_Fanatic
10-13-2004, 01:45 AM
As pistolpete mentioned in the other thread, I thought it was GPX-250? Unless... is it a suzuki then? They have so many nomenclatures for one model of bike, it's hard to tell. For example, it's Ninja 250(R)/EX-250, etc, etc for us. Either way, it's a kawasaki 250.

Get a beater car, hehe. Like Suzuki or something for cheap. Then get the bike, sell it, and get a suzuki bike. Then you'll have taste of both world. But, please, no civics.

aussieidiot
10-13-2004, 02:46 AM
guys our 250's haven't changed in ages. we have to get imports for anything decent.

as for beating the new rr, i still haven't come across one. on my next track day i'm sure to see a few. mostly come across guys on 600's or a 750 but the guys on 1000's don't really want to play in the twisties. probably going for the pose factor over actually riding them.

to tetsuo, come on, pete and lyndon are new to bikes. do you really think they'd know about a 5 year old rare race rep that was never available in oz and the only info we got was back when it came out!

Got into a car-accident today, a chic gave me a fender bender at 30-35 mph, just headed from college on the main road toward a highway. Good thing I wasn't on the bike. Damage isn't too much on my car, some scratches, a parallel dent in the middle, and one of the white reverse light was shattered. Her car suffered more damage than mine. At the rate she hit me, I thought oh shit, the rear end of my car is probably totalled. Me, her, and the cops were surprised how fortunately minimal the damage to my car is. Damn, so many exciting things happening to me this year. :D

GOD HAS TOUCHED ME
and not in a sexual manner this time!

its 3:00pm, i've just awoken from my slumber with the biggest of grins spreading from ear to ear, instantly turning into a frown and a deep feeling of dissapointment and loneliness... why? you ask?

because i just awoke from getting my first road bike...

thats right.. and i wasnt flying through the streets at 200kmh in and out of lanes etc.
it was my first ride, id just sat on the bike and looked over all the controls and guages, quickly getting used to what was in front of me. i reached out for the starter button with a hand shaking so badly i had to pause and take a deep breath to do it..
as it kicked into life, my heart started throbbing twice as quickly and my whole body began to shake, not from the small 250cc vibrating my ass but from the adrenaline rush my body recieved, like it was saying thank you for reuniting it with a 2 wheeled piece of machinery once again..

man it felt good to be back on a bike, even if was only in my dream! but we all know how real it feels when you dream of falling through the sky :D :D :D

point to the story?? yeah there is one..
getting a AUD $4,500 loan on monday (3 days from now) for a AUD $3,250 gsx250 Across with enough money left to buy some decent gear :D
