I went to Auto Zone and had my car tested again last night and the gave me these codes
Manufacturer Control Code P1405
Manufacturer Control Code P1407
AND there were these codes also
P0161 Bank 2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor
P0402 EGR Flow Excessive.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix these problems? I want to know what these manuf. codes mean also.
The darn thing keeps burning through the hose that goes to the DPFE. Does anyone know why exactly? And how I can fix it? Gosh, when it rains it pours. Thanks guys.
How do I test an 02 sensor. I heard you need to use a torch, but is there more to it?

I found the same on my 95 3.8. Hose melted going to dfpe sensor. Upon further inspection, I found the hose caked with a white residue. My first fix was to replace the two hoses with something more substantial, (Fuel line hose) and to clean as much of the white gunk out of the sensor tubes as I could. That was a few years ago. Just last month, I found the fuel line hose was getting brittle, so I replaced them, then I cleaned out the dfpe sensor inlet pipes with a hand held drill bit. Well, I must have ruined that sensor, because the on the first ride after that the car wouldn't accelerate/downshift properly and the CEL came on. I bought a new DFPE ($52 US - Advance Auto), cleared the code, and now the car runs fine again. The 95 EGR is not nearly as complex as the newer models, I didn't find any trouble with the valve itself, just the DFPE which controls it.

I would correct the obvious problem fist.
Try getting a higher heat rated hose to go to the DPFE.
Perhaps it would be good to replace the DPFE as they are a high failure item.
After doing those 2 things.....clear your codes...can do that by removing the negative battery cable.....for about 5 minutes....and reconnect.
Then drive the car and see what codes come up....if any.
Point being....1 failure may cause other....seemingly unrelated failures.
The other things that I would look into.... Clean air filter....spray cleaning the MAF and temp. sensors that are located in between the air filter and throttle body..... Use a non-residue electrical cleaner.
Verify that you do not have any vacuum leaks.... (I had one in the inside of the elbow of the PCV vacuum line on top of the intake manifold....)
Vacuum leaks can be hard to find.....and can cause a lot of different failure indications. The car is getting air that the computer does not know about.....and often in varying amounts....
I have read a number of posts of people replacing the O2 sensors....and having that not be the problem.
