Check Engine Light

Help! We're having trouble with our 98 Saturn SL1.

At first it was having trouble with a very rough idle and the check engine light was coming on.. We took it to the mechanic and were told three times that the spark plugs were loose.. We also took it to Autozone where they hooked it up to their computer and it came back with a code (I don't remember the code, but could get it) that said one of the cylinders was misfiring..

After the third time, we were finally told that the plug wires were bad.. so we changed those.. and the light didn't go off.. so they said that the computer just needed to be reset.. which they did.. and it went off.. but after sitting overnight, it came back on to stay. It now starts off rough.. but after a few minutes of driving seems to be fine until it sits for any length of time. And the engine light stays on. So they say it's either the O2 sensor, the fuel injectors or the fuel pump..

so now I say.. HELP.. any one have this trouble? Anyone know what it could be?

I have an idea, sell your car as fast as you can and buy a reliable old truck, like a scottsdale or a c/10.

Hi there! I had what sounds like a similar problem and after a bill that should have cost me $400 (my mechanic is such a sweetie and didn't charge me because he didn't even know what the problem was), it was a seat belt sensor thingy. (I am really tired right now, and can't remember the name of it, I am pretty car illiterate). Anyhoo, the codes were coming up with quad something, and after a lot of pittleling around, it was to do with the seatbelt, and the part was nothing in cost or to install/change. Hope this helps!
