Reverse Sensor causing rear light issues

My reverse sensor stopped working about a month ago and it is causing all sorts of issues. First, the reverse lights don't go on any more. Second, the left blinkers blink very fast on the dash board but it is blinking at normal speed visually. Third, The right rear tail lights are out. I have replaced all bulbs, just in case. But I think the rear sensor is the culprit because it is now hanging off the bracket because people use to think that was the lever to open the rear hatch. Why didn't FORD think of another place to install that rather than the license plate? Is it simple to remove the rear sensor?
