I just noticed that OBX lsd. Its the same as Quife? Not to be mean or anything but aren't they cheap products?

Kunundrum
09-11-2004, 02:12 PM
Quaife does not make their own LSD they contract that out, and the Exclusivity contract expired, the OBX lsd is the EXACT same (made by the same people) just 1/3 of the price. there is a guy in honda-tech running one with 500+ whp and he blew up 3rd gear and there was no damage to the LSD... that sold me!

well somewhat of a update...
I was playing around last night on the street and had bad luck!!! I blew the teeth off of 3rd gear!!! (always seems me and 3rd dont get along!) well anyways..we pulled the tranny to find that 3rd was in like 5 pieces but the diff was unhurt!!!! so we dropped another 3rd gear in along with syncro and what I call the collar/slider and its back in action..I will swear by these OBX diffs now!!! if I can blow 3rd gear out of the tranny and the diff was unhurt..its good enough in my book!

will have pics if 3rd gear soon (whats left anyways..LMAO)

FYI..

track day for me is this friday..then we will see if it will take 600 whp (536 on turbo plus a 60 shot wet of nitrous) if it does Iam becoming a dealer for these things!!

***********

http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=925949&page=6

ok ok ok..its results time!!!!
I made 2 pass's tonight and both of which where on 28+psi of boost with the 50 shot from the nitrous flowing..I launched at 7K rpm off the 2 step and it took it like a man!! car went dead straight and hooked so good I was bogging at 7000 rpm!!!

off the 2step I was seeing 18 psi out of the hole and the nitrous would kick it at 43 mph (hondata set which is high 1st gear with a 9800 rpm rev limiter) so if any of you want to run one..I would not hestiate!! I love mine and it has been thru more punishment than I thought it could take..but it took it and we still drove home!!!!

BTW best run of the night was a 11.43 @ 144 mph!!!!! just need to learn to drive it with the NAWZ flowing..LOL

One question does the H22 TB match the B16 IM
cause I've seen that you're having that TB !?

nice setup mate, cant wait to see some times!!! good luck with it mate!!

Kunundrum
09-13-2004, 07:20 AM
yes OBX does make a D-Series LSD, it fits all 88-00 Dseries tranny except the 90-91 si with the 40mm bearings.

yeah the H22 TB will bolt up, the only diff is that it's a 62mm, some manifold need some porting to accept it.

crxlvr
09-13-2004, 09:28 AM
kun did you put the LSD in yourself? and i was wondering if they have one for an Automatic. you got a lot more done to your b16 than me, but i should still be making around 185hp in mine, so what the hell right.

Kunundrum
09-13-2004, 09:33 AM
i have not received the LSD yet but I will be installing with the help of a few friends...

they never specified a auto specific Diff... I think they are the same but not 100% sure.

the motor is not done yet but I have most of the parts or ordered.

Take the b16a TB to a machine shop and have them bore it out to ITR specs (64mm). Should cost like 50 bucks.

emil13si
09-14-2004, 03:51 AM
I know that one, but in here they are litlle crazy and want lots of money for doing that not just 50$ it's arround 150$ and I don't want to pay that much !
As fars as the ITBs goes I'll try to make one in near future I already have one more IM from B seria and one guy in here will sold me ZX12R ITBs and then we'll tryto modd that together...

Dude - Emil lives is in like Slovenia...he doesn't just walk down to the nearest tuning shop and say "here port this bitch I found at the junk yard..." - :lol2: - I dunno how he manages to source the parts he does.

Emil...you are a rare bird...keep up the good work and pics whenever!

So..another question..Kunundrum..since you said that the OBX LSd's fit all D-series except the 90-91..does that make them different than the '89? I know the 88's have some differences when searchign for clutch's, etc...but I thought the 89-91 trannies were all the same. I think that the Si tranny I have for my ZC is an '89 tho..muahahahahaha :iceslolan

mellowboy
09-14-2004, 03:58 PM
He can still send it out but then yeh it'll cost a lil more...sucks.

emil13si
09-15-2004, 02:09 AM
Lets say if you pay 100$ for part with free shiping in States I pay for that exact part 100$ + shiping to SI(Slovenia) 50$ and then they charge me in my country duty on parts...and that is 100$ + 50$ + (20% or 30% of the cost of part and shiping ) and I'm on about 200$ or more... pretty shitty thing not living in States :0(
But I have my own tricks how to get parts and not paying so much to the country I live (duty part)

About porting I asked some folk but no one has time to put it on his CNC machine and do that for me cause it takes lots of time preprograming it...
So I'll try to find one H22 TB until my ITB project starts...

the 90-91 L3 have a 40mm bearing and I guess it does not work with the obx LSD.

ITR parts are here so hard to find and so damn expencive so ITR is out of the option I rather buy aftermarket 70mm then...

My current set up:

B16A2 engine 93'
- ITR cams
- ITR camgears
- ITR valves (bouth intake and exhaust are the same weight, custom job)
- ITR valve springs
- ITR oil pan
- ITR 4-2-1 orig. header
- CPS forged NA pistons
- race clutch
- B16A2 hydro tranny
- head job done (port, polish, lowered...)
- crank shaft + flyweel lighten and balanced
- polished valve cover
- polished IM + little job done on the inside
- APEXi airfilter
- HASport engine mounts
- HASport shift linkage
- custom made exhaust

Till now 193BHP@7300rpm
I'm not gettin' enough air with stock TB that is
why my A/F map is messed up :0(

Since your go'n all motor...why dont you swap out the b16 block and get a gsr or type r? It'll make a huge difference trust me. Thats what i did and i was very happy with the results.

emil13si
09-17-2004, 02:44 AM
We don't have GSR motors in here :0(
The only teg we have here is B18C5 ITR
maybe I'll get block, crankshaft, rods and pistons
from my friend whos ITR recentlly died
(crankshaft problem, rod bearing related)

mellowboy
09-17-2004, 10:00 AM
Yeh man grab it! You can swap all the parts out of your b16 into the block and your set :)
