well I finally got some decent progress. I got all the black on the body painted, the front lip, inside the grille, and the peice at the base of the windshield. I got the rear spoiler attached too. The shine was obtained by, wet sanding with 2000 grit, followed by 3M rubbing compound, and then Kit scratch out. i'll follow with zymol wax later. Enjoy the pics.

Looks like a very good looking project! I just ordered a set of those Pegasus wheels like the ones you ordered, unsure about the quality of the discs though. Good luck.

well i got my goodies. the wheels look great...and the breaks look promising. the discs are kinda thin. and they are drilled through. ordered three sets, got 2 and 3/4 time to e-mail pegasus. here is a pic of the wheels. im working on mocking up the wheels right now for some pictures.

awesome :sunglasse

you should paint the inner part of the rim gunmetal though, That's how the real Mach 1's are.

no the real mach 1 wheels are totally different. they are still a five star design. but the spokes are squared. you are thinking of the GT wheels.

67 eleanor, any word on that mold? i'd be interested in buying a shaker...or more from you if you still have it. well still no pics. i had some trouble with teh wheels. i dont like the long mounting shaft...i have no feasable way of shortening it. but the wheels are mounted and im taking care of some final details. hopefully on sunday i'll have a completed thread for you guys to enjoy

well i snapped some quick pictures. a couple of the interior and a crappy one of the motor. i'll try and get a better one tomorrow, as well as with the body on the chassis. the hood has yet to be finished, as well as the shaker, im kind of waiting on 67 eleanor to see if he still has that shaker mold. his looked perfect. well, enjoy.

i was real pleased with the interior. i shot the whole thing with some testors dull coat and it really made it look like leather. I added the white stripe on the seats. hope you like it, comments and feedback please

thats ok...no big deal, thanx for looking
as for leaving it wingless. the wing is part of what makes the car. i ended up having to work tomorrow. i might try and finish it up tomorrow night. well minus the hood. i have to wait for the weather to clear, so i can finish painting it

white97ex
10-11-2004, 10:11 PM
well, i've just about finished. all that is left is the hood. well the stripe along the bottom of the doors, but i am considering leaving that off. enjoy the pictures

there is the finished engine bay

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/10820rearend1.JPG
the lower A-arms are scratch built. i didn't notice how bad the paint on the driver side retainer for the gas tank was. i'll touch that up before the completed thread.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/10820sexyass.JPG
i finally had to break down and get some transparent red and turn signal amber. i knew i'd have to do it eventually

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/10820supersexystang.JPG

Eric Cole
10-12-2004, 12:22 PM
Looks great but I think you are right about the shaker, needs to be raised just a little bit.

white97ex
10-12-2004, 02:30 PM
orion. yeah. a friend of mine pointed that out. i hadn't even noticed it. but it is too big a pain to change, having to pull the wheel and re mount it. so its stayin. good eye tho!

white97ex
10-12-2004, 02:36 PM
hmm..i have a question. as the paint cures, does it change? the body has been painted for some time and i am just now painting the hood. it is a different shade of white

67eleanor
10-12-2004, 03:57 PM
no but as you paint the paint in the bottom of the can is usially a differnet collor thatn the rest that is why i shoot everything a one time

99civichic
10-12-2004, 04:09 PM
Some paints, i.e. automotive paints, do change color as they cure. It's best to paint everything all at once, especially with lighter colors.
