are you losing coolent or just overheating?

I just recently aquired the car from a friend and he pours random amounts of coolant and water in. would u suggest flushing the system and startin over. and i think i have a very slight drippin problem but nothing major.

you should find and repair the leak before flushing, otherwise you are just wasting money. however there are a few parts(water pump comes to mind) that flushing the system before repairing is better. but defenity have the system flushed if you are not at the proper 50/50 mix.

water actually cools better than coolant, but you need enough coolant to protect the engine/radiator and from freezing. other problems could be the water pump and/or the thermostat. start with fixxing that leak, get a flush and fill, see if that helps.
