Look forward to seeing photos without the shadows. Perhaps wait for an overcast day so the shadows don't have as much contrast, use a tripod and set your exposure for one second.

I miss Autumns in New England.

On a side note, did you look at the Nikon D70 when buying the Canon?

No, only because I already had a bunch of Canon lenses, flash, etc...
A few new ones for you guys to drool over. :)

Thanks, I was kinda forced into the spot where we shot those. Hoping to take more soon where I have a little more time to shoot some good ones with the correct exposure settings, etc.

I know how, just didn't have time I needed.

Some more from today...

Those are the nicest pictures I've ever seen of the LM, without a doubt. Thanks a lot for sharing those! Would it be possible for you to post higher res versions of the first two photos you posted today? Those are absolutely perfect, and I would love to have them at higher res. Keep up the good work! :)

I also would appreciate as high of a res as you can post....there are many free sites to host pics on ... I can't host anymore because my host is going haywire/gone.

LOL. Just read your post about having lenses. Certainly understand trying to capture the image when it's available. Did that many times at the race tracks.

I'm also a Canon shooter. Been shooting Canon for close to 10 years. Just ordered my first D-SLR  I can now experiment more without worrying about wasting film. At least you have a gorgeous subject to shoot! :naughty: The LM looks almost surreal with houses surrounding it. Previous photos have conditioned my brain to expect a race track or an office complex. The owner has to live somewhere... not just a secret underground complex. LOL.

Hey dugmar, do you need someone to carry your camera bag for you :naughty: hint, hint? Actually wanted to say thanks for the additional pics. Yes the camera is important, but the critical part of the whole equation is the person looking through the viewfinder and setting up everything properly. It also helps when you have an intersting subject  . I'll look at all of 'em you are willing to post. Thanks again, :bigthumb: and keep up the good work.

If you guys can help, I'll be glad to try :D

Well I think we had discussed some kind of administrative capabilities for me in the past. I'm willing to organize them - you would just need to create some albums to seperate the different types of images out into. I don't think they need to be granular down the the chassis number, but it would be great to have an album for F1 road cars, one for GTRs, one for the LM, one for long tail GTRs, another for GTs and a final one for miscellaneous McLaren related images.

I've gone there before looking to 'borrow' a specific photo and it's a pain having to rifle through more than a dozen pages to find what I'm searching for. If it will be difficult, we can just forget about it, but it seems a shame to have all the images grouped together the way that they are if the option of breaking them out is there.

oh no, it shouldn't be hard at all. even if I can't figure out a batch move, I can just reupload them all, because of the handy admin batch upload tool :D

----> PM tomorrow

edit.

A quick glance reveals the easy creation of parent catagories, but a loss of moving tools.

Ignore the empty catagories for now ;)

Submissions always welcomed! Just sign up and start uploading!

Are there plans to sort photo's by chassis number, especially for the road cars? i think this would be very helpful...

Peloton25
11-14-2004, 04:35 PM
Well currently, I haven't even been able to sort the photos into the categories I suggested using the gallery's control panel. It seems the interface just doesn't allow for that. It's very strange. :screwy:

As for breaking it down all the way to the chassis number - that's not something I plan to do. There are quite a few unidentified cars that we have photos of, but nothing else. Some cars we just have a handful of shots of. In a way it would be nice to do for cars where there are lots of photos of, but then it would make sense to do it for all of them, and well... refer back to my other two points.

I haven't gotten it sorted yet. I think it's time for a wipe and reupload. This weekend.

Although this can only work if I already have them into catagories...so how can we do that?

Peloton25
11-15-2004, 06:37 PM
I played around with it for at least a half hour trying anything I didn't think would break it. I saw that you had created the categories, but didn't see any way of actually moving things into them. I also couldn't get anything to upload, though I see that a few people have managed to create personal albums. I'll try again when I have some more time but maybe a fresh start with individual albums instead of categories would be better.

I was also going to go looking for the website that software comes from in hopes that they have some kind of instructions for manipulating the files on their site. There must be a way - it would seem very silly if you couldn't move things around after uploading them.

isn't it always the logical things? I've figured it out: I make albums under my name theflinger
go to a picture
Edit description
In the album dropdown, select the album I want
Apply modifications

DAMMIT WE OVERTHOUGHT THAT!!!!
Creating all the necessary albums now. We will have to deal with the user galleries in another way.

Peloton25
11-15-2004, 08:41 PM
Well unfortunately, I can't move images around in your galleries. :(

I figured out what you were talking about as far as the "Edit Description" link and I see the pull-down for Albums, but my list is completely blank. I'm guessing that the feature doesn't extend to other Admins.

I'll poke around on the Coppermine site and see if there's any further explanations. I'd really like to help you get this organized, but we're being blocked at every turn.

Peloton25

Okay - I figured it out - I was trying to edit the individual file as opposed to doing it at the album level. It's certainly not the most intuitive piece of software, that's for sure. :grinno:

I changed the "F1 Road Car" album to "F1 GT" as having one called "F1" and "F1 Road Car" was somewhat redundant. If you wanted to break it down further, I would add an "F1 GTR Longtail" folder, and possibly an "F1 Miscellaneous" folder for related shots that might not really fit in the other albums. I tried creating them myself but it wasn't allowing me to create an album within your galleries, only my own.

F1 was suppposed to be the Misc one, I didn't want to edit it and find out it fucked something up ;)

Looks great as-is. I will create those other albums.

Peloton25
11-16-2004, 03:33 PM
Ok - I've shuffled everything around quite a bit. I also set a good thumbnail for each album based on what was in them currently.

The album for F1 road cars, the F1 LM and the F1 GT are pretty robust at this point, but the ones for the GTRs are pretty lacking. I'll try do something about that in the next few days. Maybe others can help out with that as well.

Alright, just a heads up. Me and Pelo are working on a way to make this thing work like I wanted to originally.

So your albums are gonna be deleted. Don't worry, I backed everything up and it should work once we figure it all out :)

so....

There was problems reuploading. I have posted to the coppermine boards and we are working on a solution.

If nothing happens soon, I'll recreate the gallery from scratch.

Again, all the pictures are saved :)

Thanks a ton, by the way, for all of the pictures that have been contributed so far! You guys rock!

ok

It looks like it is all done. The user pictures had to be uploaded at once with the rest, I hope you don't mind.

Now the sorting process begins. Also feel free to upload your own pictures. You should be able to upload to the albums I have created. Please do this, it will keep it nice and neat.

Peloton25

Now the sorting process is done - at least for the files that are there now.

I also set a decent thumbnail for each album that I thought was representative of the contents. I changed one of the album names from "F1 Longtail" to "F1 GTR Longtail" as the road version of the GTR longtail is simply called the F1 GT, which you already had an album for.

Some of the albums are lacking content at this point, but I'm sure among this group here something can be done to change that over time.

The link on the main page of the thread is no longer active, so here's a link to the albums:
